To improve employment outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities, Dr. Smith will be joining this team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a Research Associate 👏🏾

A team of UW–Madison researchers dedicated to improving job training and career-related support for individuals with disabilities have received several new federal grants to expand their work.

Unemployment rates for people with disabilities are higher than for people without disabilities in every society. One of the largest barriers for Caribbean youth with disabilities is societal misconceptions. For instance, employers may be more accepting of those with physical disabilities rather than those with developmental disabilities. This perception requires attention and advocacy-related intervention on behalf of the youth.
