β˜€οΈ This Emancipation Day, don’t just celebrate; emancipate yourself from the holiday heat! πŸ₯€πŸ’¦

As you head to the beach, family gatherings, regattas, festivals, and other holiday events this long weekend, remember that high temperatures can quickly lead to dehydration and heat-related illness.

Stay safe by:
πŸ’§ Drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
🧒 Wearing light, loose-fitting clothing and a hat.
🌳 Taking breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
πŸ‰ Eating water-rich fruits and avoiding too much alcohol in the sun.
πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘΅ Checking in on children, older adults, and anyone with chronic medical conditions, as they’re more vulnerable to the heat.

Let’s enjoy the holiday responsibly and look out for one another.

Celebrate the freedom. Escape the heat. Stay hydrated. Stay healthy.βž•πŸ’™

Today is World Hepatitis Day, a reminder that hepatitis is inflammation of the liver, most commonly caused by a viral infection. Left untreated, it can lead to serious liver damage, liver cancer, and even death. The challenge is that many people with hepatitis have no symptoms for years and don’t know they’re infected.

The good news? Hepatitis is preventable, treatable, and in some cases, curable.

πŸ’‰ Get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B.
🩺 Know your risk and get tested.
❀️ Practice healthy habits to reduce your risk.
πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ Seek medical care if you think you’ve been exposed.

Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, and work toward eliminating hepatitis as a public health threat.

Protect your liver. Protect your health.

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, guardians, mentors, and father figures whose love, guidance, and dedication help shape healthy families and stronger communities.

Whether through words of wisdom, acts of service, or simply being present, fathers play an important role in nurturing the physical, emotional, and social well-being of those they love.

The Department of Public Health extends warm Father’s Day wishes to all fathers and father figures across The Bahamas. Thank you for your leadership, sacrifice, and commitment to building brighter futures.
Happy Father’s Day! πŸ’™
