⚽🏆 WANGDICHOLING HOSPITAL MEN’S & WOMEN’S FUTSAL TOURNAMENT 2026 🏆⚽

Wangdicholing Hospital under Bumthang dzongkhag successfully conducted a Men’s and Women’s Futsal Tournament on 12–13 September 2026 as part of promoting physical fitness, teamwork, friendship, and a healthy lifestyle among hospital staff. 4 mens team and 3 women's team where there and tournament brought together our dedicated staff members in a spirit of teamwork, sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and healthy competition. Beyond the workplace, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for colleagues to connect, recharge, and strengthen team spirit.

Congratulations to all the participating teams and players! Your enthusiasm, commitment, and sportsmanship made the tournament a memorable event.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the tournament, including the organizers, referees, supporters, and staff members.

Bumthang Dzongkhag Comprehensive School Health Screening Programme

The Comprehensive School Health Screening Programme has commenced across schools in Bumthang Dzongkhag, led by the dedicated multidisciplinary team from Wangdicholing Hospital.

The screening team includes professionals from Medical, Dental, Eye, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Laboratory, and ENT services.

The programme aims to promote the health and well-being of school children through early identification of health, nutritional, oral, vision, hearing and other health-related concerns, along with appropriate health education, referral and follow-up.

This collaborative initiative reflects our commitment to bringing comprehensive preventive healthcare services closer to school children across Bumthang Dzongkhag.

Wangdicholing Hospital, under Bumthang dzongkhag has received a new Mobile Medical Ambulance to strengthen emergency medical services and improve access to healthcare for communities in Bumthang and surrounding areas.

The mobile medical ambulance will support emergency response, patient transportation, outreach medical services, and delivery of essential healthcare services to remote and underserved communities.

This important support will contribute to improving timely access to healthcare, strengthening emergency preparedness, and enhancing the overall quality of health services in the district.

Wangdicholing Hospital, Bumthang proudly celebrated of World Breastfeeding Week 1 -7 August 2026, under the theme:

🌿 “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”

The celebration focused on strengthening awareness and support for breastfeeding among mothers, caregivers, families, and healthcare workers. The programme highlighted the importance of:

Early initiation of breastfeeding
Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months
Appropriate complementary feeding after 6 months
Proper breastfeeding positioning and attachment
The role of healthcare workers in protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding
The importance of family and community support for breastfeeding mothers

Through health education, counselling, interactive discussions and awareness activities, Wangdicholing Hospital continues to support mothers and families in giving every child the best possible start in life.

Empowered Nurses Save Lives," highlights that maximizing the life-saving impact of the nursing workforce requires empowering nurses with safe work environments, fair compensation, and leadership opportunities.This theme arrives at a critical juncture as global healthcare faces unprecedented workforce shortages and the effects of climate change. While nurses sustain communities under immense strain, their contributions often remain under-supported. ICN President José Luis Cobos Serrano emphasized: "We chose the 2026 theme because it recognizes that nurses perform extraordinary work daily to improve lives. Nurses must be fully empowered to make the greatest impact on global health."The 2026 International Nurses Day (IND) report outlines essential actions to recruit and retain a strong workforce by investing in education, influence, and person-centered care to transform health systems.

Wangdicholing Hospital, Bumthang Observed World Health Day

07 April 2026: Wangdicholing Hospital, Bumthang, observed World Health Day 2026 under the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.” The theme emphasizes the power of scientific collaboration, evidence-based action, and the One Health approach, which recognizes the interconnection between human, animal, plant, and environmental health, and calls for collective global action to address emerging health challenges.

The event was graced by the Dasho Dzongdag of Bumthang Dzongkhag Administration as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest also awarded certificates of appreciation to all Unit In-Charges, Quality Assurance focal persons, and newly recruited staff of Wangdicholing Hospital in recognition of their contributions and service.

World Health Day is observed annually on 7th April to raise awareness about global health issues and to promote actions that contribute to a healthier world. The day marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948 and serves as an opportunity to highlight priority health themes of global importance.
