Delighted news for every mother. Soon all the mothers with third and subsequent child will be eligible for a financial benefits.
The Government launched the Third Child Plus Programme (TCPP), a national initiative aimed at supporting families with third or subsequent children, as the country faces declining birth rates and wider demographic changes.
Announced on the Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, the programme seeks to strengthen family welfare and address long-term population sustainability concerns.
Under the scheme, eligible third and higher-order children born on or after June 4 will receive a monthly cash benefit of Nu 10,000 until the age of three.
The programme will also extend to eligible children born before that date who are still under three years old, with payments starting from June 4, 2026.
The government noted that Bhutanโs Total Fertility Rate has fallen below the replacement level of 2.1, with annual births declining by 34 percent over the past decade. Births of third-order and above have also dropped significantly since 2020.
Each eligible child will be registered independently through the Civil Registration and Census System, with payments made directly to beneficiariesโ bank accounts.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to create a more family-friendly policy environment, including expanded childcare support, flexible working arrangements, and enhanced parental leave provisions.
Further details on implementation will be published by the Prime Ministerโs Office once the programme becomes operational.
