The Vegetarian Master Chef Competition was officially launched today with a successful and inspiring opening ceremony, bringing together 23 passionate participants, the TCD Entertainment team, and the Board of Directors of the Karzay Foundation to celebrate the start of this exciting culinary journey.
We were deeply honored to have the Chairperson of Zhung Dratshang Tshether Tshogpa as our Chief Guest. Their gracious presence added great importance and blessing to the occasion, making the launch even more meaningful.
This competition goes beyond cooking—it is a meaningful platform that celebrates compassion, encourages healthy living, promotes sustainability, and raises awareness of animal welfare through the creativity and power of vegetarian cuisine.
As part of the opening challenge, the 23 participants were divided into groups and successfully prepared 13 different vegetarian dishes. Their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm were truly inspiring, marking a strong start to the competition.
Before the live competition begins, all participants will undergo a two-week intensive training program led by our professional chefs and dietitian. They will be trained in essential culinary skills, kitchen hygiene, and nutrition awareness to build confidence and prepare them for the challenges ahead.
The ceremony also coincided with the Coronation Day of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Social Forestry Day—two important national occasions that reflect values of leadership, environmental stewardship, sustainability, and harmony with nature.

A special moment of the ceremony was the distribution of competition kits to all 23 participants by our Chief Guest. Each contestant received an apron, chef’s cap, three professional knives, a notepad, and a pen officially marking the beginning of their culinary journey and giving them the essential tools to develop their skills and creativity throughout the competition.
Together, we are building a meaningful movement that promotes compassion for animals, care for the planet, and the importance of a healthy, balanced diet for overall well-being.
