Team blue or team pink?

This weekend, gender reveal scans at Seriti Medical Care are free.

There's a moment in every pregnancy when "the baby" becomes him, or her. A name starts to fit. The arguments about paint colours begin. It's one of the best days of the whole nine months and this weekend, it's on us.

Scans from 18 weeks. That's the point where the answer is clear enough to celebrate.

Cold or flu? The difference is mostly in how it arrives.

A cold creeps up on you. A scratchy throat, a blocked nose, a mild cough. You feel rough but you keep going, and in 3 to 7 days it's behind you.

Flu doesn't creep. It arrives. One moment you're fine, the next you're aching, feverish and too tired to stand. That one can take 1 to 2 weeks.

Most of the time both settle with rest, fluids and a bit of patience. But some symptoms mean it's time to stop waiting and come in:

- A fever of 38°C or higher that lasts more than 3 days,
- Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
- Chest pain or pressure
- Severe weakness or confusion
- Any symptoms in a baby under 6 months
- Symptoms that get worse after you had started getting better

That last one catches most of us outpeople out. Feeling better and then worse again is worth a visit, not a wait.
