🧡 Safe care should never cause harm.

🎯 This year, World Patient Safety Day focuses on people living with noncommunicable diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and chronic lung disease.

⚠️ These conditions often need care for many years, which means more visits, medicines, tests and treatments, and more chances for something to go wrong.

🌍 Globally, 1 in 10 patients is harmed during health care, and around half of that harm may be preventable. For some conditions, including cancer, up to 1 in 3 patients may experience an adverse event during care.

Safer care means:

🙋🏽‍♀️ Asking questions if something is unclear.
📝 Keeping an updated list of medicines.
👨🏾‍⚕️ Making sure health workers know about all your conditions.
🗣️ Speaking up if something feels wrong.
🤲🏼 Involving patients and families in decisions.

The message this year is simple: Safe care for life!
