As we close Epidemiological Week 25, our Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) system reflects a dynamic public health landscape: nationally, we recorded 8 confirmed malaria cases across five districts (Okavango, Francistown, Kgatleng, Palapye, and Tutume), while Influenza-Like Illness (10,636 cases) and Diarrhea with dehydration (30 cases, marking a 3.2% decrease) remain UNDER CONTROL with zero reported deaths.

Simultaneously, we are closely monitoring the regional Ebola Disease outbreak (Bundibugyo virus) in the DRC and Uganda, where the DRC has reported 1,048 confirmed cases with a 25.5% Case Fatality Rate, and Uganda has recorded 21 total cases with a 14.3% CFR - prompting our Institute to reinforce preparedness protocols to ensure Botswana remains protected. Our commitment to public health security is unwavering as we balance domestic response with regional situational awareness.
