🖤 In Loving Memory of Dr. Cecilio Eck
World Pediatrics joins the people of Belize in mourning the passing of Dr. Cecilio Eck, a beloved pediatrician, advocate, and longtime leader whose impact on children and families across Belize will never be forgotten.
For decades, Dr. Eck dedicated his life to healing children with extraordinary compassion, humility, and unwavering selflessness. As Medical Director for World Pediatrics Belize and a champion of our programs, he helped transform access to pediatric care for countless families throughout the country.
Known affectionately by many as “Dr. Shrek,” he was more than a physician. He was a trusted friend, mentor, advocate, and source of hope for children and parents alike. Even while facing a long and public battle with stage four cancer, Dr. Eck continued serving others with remarkable strength and grace, always putting the needs of children before his own.
We are deeply grateful for his years of partnership, sincere care, and steadfast belief that every child deserves access to the medical care they need.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and the many lives touched by his kindness and dedication. His legacy will continue to live on through the children he fought so hard to heal and the community he helped build. 🕊️
