What’s the first thing you drink upon wakening? A great read to help support your body’s needs. ⬇️
THE ELECTRIC MORNING. ⚡🧂
We are told to drink water immediately upon waking. This is good advice, but it is incomplete. If you drink 20oz of plain, filtered water on an empty stomach after 8 hours of sleep, you might actually be dehydrating yourself further. This is because of Osmolality. Plain water has a lower mineral concentration than your blood. When you flood your system with it, your body flushes it out (along with valuable minerals) to maintain equilibrium. You p*e clear liquid, but your cells remain thirsty.
The Adrenal Connection Your morning energy isn't just about sleep; it's about the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR). When you wake up, your adrenal glands must release cortisol and adrenaline to get you out of bed and stabilize your blood pressure against gravity. To do this effectively, they require Sodium. Sodium is the "spark plug" of the adrenal system. It creates the electrical potential needed for nerve firing. If you are salt-depleted (common in people who eat "clean" and drink lots of plain water), your adrenals have to strain to maintain blood pressure, leading to that dizzy feeling when you stand up (Orthostatic Hypotension) and a "tired but wired" feeling later in the day.
Aldosterone & The Sponge Your body has a hormone called Aldosterone. Its job is to hold onto salt. When you don't eat enough salt, aldosterone spikes to save every grain. High aldosterone is stressful on the heart. By giving your body a "Salt Signal" first thing in the morning, you suppress aldosterone and tell your body: "We are safe. We have resources. You can relax." This simple signal calms the stress response and allows for steady, non-jittery energy.
⚡ VitalShot Protocol: The "Sole Water" Morning: You don't need a lot. You just need enough to match the salinity of your blood (Isotonic).
The Source: Use unrefined Celtic Sea Salt (grey) or Pink Himalayan Salt. Do NOT use white table salt (it is bleached and lacks trace minerals).
The Mix: Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt to 16-20oz (500ml) of warm water.
The Acid: Squeeze half a lemon (optional) to balance the pH and support the liver.
The Timing: Drink this before your coffee. Coffee is a diuretic (makes you lose salt). This acts as a buffer.
The Result: Most people report that their "brain fog" lifts faster with salt water than with caffeine alone. That is bio-electricity turning on.
