Losing a loved one for the first time can be one of life's most difficult and unfamiliar experiences.

Grief can bring many emotions, from sadness and shock to confusion, numbness, or even moments of peace. However you're feeling, it's important to remember that there is no right or wrong way to grieve.

Give yourself permission to take things one day at a time, lean on those who care about you, and be patient with yourself as you navigate your loss.

Healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means learning to carry the love and memories forward in a new way.

If you feel comfortable, share one thing that helped you navigate grief after losing a loved one.

A meaningful legacy lives on through the stories we tell, the traditions we keep, and the lessons we carry forward every day.

Think of someone who has shaped your life. A parent, grandparent, mentor, friend, or loved one.

What's one lesson they taught you that still guides you today? ❤️

Share it in comments and let's celebrate the people whose influence continues to make a difference.

Our next Grief Support Group, held at the McEachnie Family Centre, 20 Church St. N., Ajax, will begin Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 6 – 8 p.m.
The group will meet weekly for a period of 12 weeks.
Facilitated by local bereavement specialist Cheryl Parker, the group will explore Dr. Bill Webster’s When Life Changes Support Program.

The meetings will provide valuable information about grief and the human reaction to the loss of a family member or friend. The meetings will explore in greater depth the grief and bereavement process. These sessions will deal with accepting a death has occurred; coming to emotional terms with the death; creating a new identity for yourself, incorporating the loss; dealing with anniversaries; and any special needs of the group of participating individuals.

Attendance at the group sessions is free. Registration is required. If you are interested in attending, please contact McEachnie Funeral Home, 905-428-8488 and request to join the 12 week grief group.

If you have any questions or require alternate grief support or community services, please do not hesitate to call.
