Dr. John Raji earned his Honours Bachelor of Science from McMaster University and his Doctor of Optometry degree with honours from The University of Houston. He has been recognized for excellence in neuro-optometric and contact lens care, and continues to be involved with the Ontario Association of Optometrists as an ambassador and committee member. Dr. Raji has experience treating conditions including diabetic retinopathy, keratoconus, and glaucoma, while providing care to underserved communities in Texas.

⚠️ Eye Safety Alert: Navigating Wildfire Smoke & Dry Eyes

With the current air quality warnings caused by wildfires, many of us in New Tecumseth are feeling the impact—not just in our lungs, but in our eyes.

Wildfire smoke contains micro-particles that can easily irritate your eyes, causing redness, burning, and sudden dryness.

Here are a few quick tips to help protect your vision and keep your eyes comfortable:

1. Keep Your Eyes Lubricated: Use high-quality, preservative-free lubricating eye drops throughout the day to help flush out particles and maintain moisture.

2. Cool Down Irritation: If your eyes are feeling itchy or inflamed, apply a clean, cold compress over closed eyelids for 5 to 10 minutes to soothe them.

3. Avoid Rubbing: It’s tempting when they itch, but rubbing can press tiny debris deeper into the delicate tissue of your eye. Flush them with drops instead!
