Matrescence
A “normal” stage of development, comparable to adolescence. The developmental transition to motherhood was first noted in the 1970s by Dr. Dana Raphael. The exact length of matrescence is different with each individual, reoccurs with each child born and may last a lifetime. Changes include biological, social, emotional, political, spiritual and more (Athen, 2016).
If this concept speaks to you, and you’ve been struggling, I have a few openings for therapy coming up later in August. Shoot me a message, email or call 9026005126 [email protected]
