😱 It's here. Beware "The Blur."
The Canadian Association of Optometrist is launching their latest digital awareness campaign, shining a spotlight on a growing threat to children's vision: myopia.

"Beware of The Blur" reminds parents that when it comes to childhood myopia, only an optometrist can stop "The Blur." Uncorrected vision problems can affect how a child reads, learns, and participates in the classroom, often without anyone realizing anything is wrong. Only comprehensive eye exams can diagnose myopia. While there is no cure, there are treatment options to slow the progression – but early detection is key.

You may start seeing "The Blur" creep into your feed over the coming weeks. We encourage you to share it with your communities.

This campaign was made possible in partnership with the New Brunswick Association of Optometrists/Association des Optométristes NB , Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists, and Prince Edward Island Association of Optometrists, and with the support of our sponsors, Alcon and CooperVision Canada.

Thank you for helping bring children's vision health into focus.

Dr. Sandra Block, WCO's immediate past president, and Dr. Martin Spiro, past president of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, have been featured as guest contributors in an article published in COOKIE_Magazine, Issue 24: Back to School, Back to Basics.

In “Ready, Set, Wear: Contact Lenses for Tweens,” Dr. Block and Dr. Spiro explore why the traditional age-based approach to prescribing contact lenses is outdated and why readiness, maturity, motivation, and lifestyle should guide the conversation instead.

A huge thank you to the Canadian Association of Optometrists, and to everyone who stopped by to speak with us during CAO's 39th Congress OPTOFAIR! What a great opportunity it was to meet such a passionate group of eye health professionals and to share the work we're doing globally to end preventable blindness and vision impairment. givingsight.org
