Thank you first responders!

The Town has proclaimed May 1st, 2026 as “First Responders Day” and encourage all
residents to take the time to recognize and thank all first responders for their bravery and unwavering service they provide to protect and serve our community every day.

First responders are those men and women who, in the early stages of an emergency, are responsible for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence and the environment. They include a broad range of highly trained professionals and volunteers, such as paramedics, police officers, firefighters, physicians, medical evacuation pilots, emergency management personnel, road maintenance workers, and members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

These individuals respond to emergencies with professionalism, bravery, skill, and compassion, frequently placing themselves at personal risk in service of others.

The dedication, sacrifice, and commitment demonstrated by first responders warrant recognition and gratitude for the essential role they play in protecting and supporting our community.

Recently, the Rotary Club made a generous donation to the Family and Friends Council (FFC) of the Grove Home. Rotary members Amanda and Alec presented the FFC executive (Laurie, Juliette, and Maureen) with the cheque.

Funds will be used for the courtyard beautification project, which we are sure the residents will greatly enjoy. Thank you to the Rotary Club!

COMMUNITY NOTICE – Emergency Preparedness Exercise

On the morning of Tuesday May 5th, 2026, The Grove Long-Term Care Home will be conducting a scheduled emergency preparedness exercise, including a mock evacuation.

Members of the public may notice an increased presence of police, fire, and paramedic vehicles in the area.

This exercise is a standard, ministry‑required process to ensure our team and partners are prepared in the event of a real emergency. Like all emergency codes, these exercises are completed regularly so we can test systems, practice our response, and learn together.

As part of the exercise, some residents will be safely relocated to the former Grove building next door.

Exercises like this demonstrate our ongoing commitment to resident safety, emergency readiness, and high‑quality care. Thank you for your understanding.
