Thanks to the ARH Foundation’s Employee Bridging & Bursary Program, staff like Stephanie Duncan and Kelly O’Rourke are advancing their nursing careers while continuing to serve the patients and families of Arnprior Regional Health.

For Stephanie, the bursary helped make it possible to balance full-time work, university studies, and raising four children, leading to her transition from RPN to RN in March 2026. For Kelly, the program has provided both financial support and the confidence of knowing ARH believes in her potential.

In 2025–2026, Arnprior Regional Health began a significant transformation: the implementation of Epic, a new electronic medical record designed to improve how patients experience care, both at ARH and across the region.

As part of the Atlas Alliance, ARH is joining a network of regional hospitals connected through a shared system, ensuring patient information can follow individuals wherever they receive care. This means fewer delays, fewer repeated tests, and more seamless transitions between providers.

Epic will replace fragmented and paper-based processes with a single, integrated digital record. Care teams will have real-time access to the information they need, supporting faster decisions, reducing the risk of error, and helping ensure patients receive safe, consistent care at every stage of their visit.

For patients, this transformation brings greater visibility and connection to their care. Through MyChart, patients will be able to access their health information, view test results, and stay connected with their care team, making it easier to understand and participate in their own health journey.

Epic and MyChart will be live in October 2026.

For many patients, their experience at ARH begins in the Emergency Department; over the past year, that first moment has been reimagined.

Patients are now greeted immediately at the registration desk, where they share their concern, receive an identification band, and are guided through a brief screening process. From that first interaction, their information is visible to the clinical team in real time, allowing triage nurses to understand who is waiting, why they’re there, and how urgently they need care.

The change may feel simple, but its impact is significant. Care is prioritized based on clinical need from the first moment, creating a more equitable and reassuring experience. It also brings an added layer of safety. Patients who may require isolation are identified earlier, appropriate protective equipment is used from the start, and staff have better visibility to respond quickly and appropriately.
