We are so excited to welcome our newest Practice Ready Ontario candidate to Atikokan!
Practice Ready Ontario is the Government of Ontario’s new program for internationally trained family physicians who already have clinical practice experience. It is part of the plan to expand the health care workforce and connect people to care in high need, rural communities like ours.
Dr. Olukolade Akinyede is a healthcare and community-oriented professional with a diverse international background and a strong passion for service, family, and community engagement. Born and raised in Nigeria, he completed his medical education there before pursuing a Master of Business Administration in the United States. He later relocated to Canada, where he built both his professional career and family life.
Having lived and worked in Edmonton, Olukolade has gained valuable experience working with health and community organizations that support wellness, inclusion, and community development. He is a dedicated husband and father of two young sons who enjoys outdoor activities, nature, cooking, household projects, and spending quality time with family. He is also actively involved in community service.
As he begins his professional journey in Atikokan, Olukolade is grateful for the opportunity to become part of the community. He looks forward to meeting the people of Atikokan and contributing positively to the growth and spirit of the community.
