June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada โ€” a time to learn about and honour the unique cultures, traditions, histories and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Mรฉtis Peoples, who have lived on this land since time immemorial and whose presence continues to shape Canada today.

It is also an important opportunity to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in meaningful ways.

This month, we encourage everyone to take time to listen, learn and engage. Read books by Indigenous authors, attend community events, watch films and performances, listen to music by Indigenous artists, and follow First Nations, Inuit and Mรฉtis creators and educators. Learn more: bit.ly/4vW7hn5

Learning is an important step toward understanding, respect and reconciliation and, Addiction Services Central Ontario is committed to continuing to doing its part.

Living with addictionโ€”or loving someone who isโ€”can feel heavy, isolating, and overwhelming. But support matters, and connection can make it lighter.

This , weโ€™re reminding you that asking for help is not weaknessโ€”itโ€™s courage. Whether itโ€™s a counsellor, a support group, family, or a trusted friend, care is meant to be shared.

You deserve compassion, understanding, and support on your journeyโ€”every step of the way. ๐Ÿค

This , Canadians are invited to Come Togetherโ€”because connection strengthens mental health. When we show up for one another through small, everyday actions, we help reduce isolation, strengthen belonging, and support overall wellโ€‘being.

Social connection plays a powerful role, too. At Addiction Services Central Ontario, our programs and services are built on compassion, trust, and meaningful human connection. Every day, our clinicians support individuals and families navigating addictions challengesโ€”reminding them they are not alone and that help is available.

This week, letโ€™s talk openly, reach out, and support one another. Whether itโ€™s mental health, addiction, or both, care starts with connectionโ€”and together, we can make a difference. ๐Ÿ’š

Today, at Addiction Services Central Ontario we pause to honour and remember the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit people, and to acknowledge the deep and ongoing harms Indigenous communities have experienced as a result of colonialism, systemic racism, and violence.

The red dress has become a powerful symbol of those who are missing, those whose lives were taken, and the families and communities who continue to carry this loss. On this day, we stand in remembrance, reflect on our shared responsibility to listen and learn, and recommit to supporting justice, safety, and dignity for Indigenous peoples.

We wear red to remember โ€” and to renew our commitment to meaningful reconciliation and action.
