Taking those painful first steps out of bed every morning? What’s triggering it isn’t always in your foot...🦶

Buried deep beneath your calf muscles, the tibialis posterior is your foot arch’s primary support system. When trigger points lock up here, the pain gets referred straight down into your foot in these areas:
1. Deep, concentrated pain right over the back of the heel and lower Achilles
2. Heavy tension spreading across the bottom of the foot, medial arch, and under the toes
3. A dull spillover running up the inside of your lower leg

šŸ”“Because of this exact referral map, tibialis posterior issues constantly get misdiagnosed as Achilles tendonitis or plantar fasciitis

Drop a 🦶 in the comments if your heels need this!

Isometric Hip Internal Rotation šŸ”„

A simple but effective way to build strength and control through the hip’s rotational range. Isometrics can help improve joint stability, increase force production, and expose weak links without excessive movement

šŸ› ļø How to perform:
1. Place a band around your ankles and a yoga block between your knees
2. Press your knee into the block and rotate your hip inward so that you lift your top ankle up, and maintain this contraction

āœ…This exercise enhances tendon and muscle strength and recruitment
āŒAvoid rotating your pelvis forward

Outer ankle pain that won’t go away? It might not be a sprain after all…

šŸ‘‰The peroneal muscles help stabilize your ankle with every step you take. When trigger points develop here, they project pain straight down into these areas:
1. Concentrated aching directly over and around your lateral malleolus (outer ankle)
2. Pain spilling along the outer edge of your foot toward your small toe
3. A constant, dull ache along the side of your calf

This is why lingering pain after a rolled ankle is so often driven by active trigger points in these lateral muscles!

Have you ever rolled your ankle and had pain stick around for months? Tell us below šŸ’¬

If your calf feels constantly tight or you’re dealing with deep heel pain that won’t go away, you might be missing theĀ soleusĀ musclešŸ¦µšŸ’„

The soleus lies deeper underneath and works overtime whenever your knee is bent—like running, squatting, or just walking up stairs

When trigger points form in the soleus, theĀ referral pain patternĀ doesn’t just stay in the calf. It typically sends a dull, deep ache down into:
1ļøāƒ£TheĀ heel, plantar arch, and Achilles tendon
2ļøāƒ£Refers pain upward, causing a deep, diffuse ache in theĀ upper calf and back of the knee
3ļøāƒ£Can occasionally refer pain locally or even up toward the ipsilateral sacroiliac (SI) joint

Finding and releasing this trigger point using a firm ball or foam roller, can offer massive relief for persistent foot and heel pain

If targeted releases aren’t cutting it, let us take a look. Tap the link in our bio to book an appointment with our team! ✨
