Starting OCD care can feel overwhelming, and for many people, the hardest part is simply walking through the door.

When you’re living with OCD, new environments can heighten anxiety. The unfamiliar, the “what ifs,” the urge to scan, check, or figure everything out before you even sit down.

That’s why our space is designed to support you from the very beginning.

Soft lighting to ease sensory overwhelm. A welcoming area for kids to feel comfortable. Books and resources to help you better understand what you’re experiencing. And a mural filled with grounding, encouraging words for the journey ahead.

Because feeling safe, understood, and supported shouldn’t start in session. It should start the moment you arrive.

OCD doesn’t always look loud or obvious.

Sometimes it shows up in the quiet moments… rereading, replaying, asking again, just trying to feel certain for a second.

If you saw yourself in even one of these slides, you’re not overthinking or “being too much.” You might be stuck in a cycle that’s incredibly common in OCD.

The good news is, there are evidence-based ways to work through it, and you don’t have to do it on your own.

Coming to your first session is a big step. And sometimes, the most meaningful progress starts with small, quiet wins.

Like noticing an intrusive thought and being able to say, “that’s OCD looking for certainty.”

Or creating even a few seconds of space before a compulsion.

Those moments matter more than you think.

That pause, that awareness, that shift in how you respond… it’s how change begins. It’s how you start taking your power back, one step at a time.

If you’re doing this, even in small ways, you’re already moving forward. 💙

Not everyone is ready to start ERP right away. And that’s okay.

OCD-informed counselling is another way we support people living with OCD. It’s designed for those who may not feel ready for ERP, aren’t interested in it right now, or have already completed ERP and want ongoing support.

What makes this different is the specialization.

Working with someone who understands OCD matters, because some general approaches can unintentionally make symptoms worse.

OCD-informed counselling gives you a safe, supportive space to talk through what you’re experiencing, build insight, and develop tools that support you without feeding the cycle.

We meet you where you are, and support you in a way that feels right for you. 💙

For many people with OCD, the hardest part isn’t just the intrusive thoughts. It’s spending years trying to explain them to people who don’t fully understand what OCD actually is.

Erin Fairbanks brings compassionate, evidence-based OCD care that helps clients feel heard, supported, and understood while building practical tools to move forward. Her approach is collaborative, individualized, and grounded in specialized OCD treatment that meets you where you are.

If you’ve been looking for support that truly understands OCD, we’re here to help.

Starting ERP can bring up a lot of worries. That’s completely understandable.

What matters most is this: we always start where you are.

You won’t be pushed into anything you’re not ready for. Every step is thoughtful, collaborative, and designed to feel manageable while still helping you challenge OCD in a meaningful way.

ERP is highly personalized. It’s built around your experiences, your pace, and your level of readiness in each moment.

It’s also the gold-standard, evidence-based approach for treating OCD. And when appropriate, it can be supported by medication management from our medical team to help you get the most out of the process.

You don’t have to face OCD all at once. We take it one step at a time, together. 💙

There’s a lot of stigma around OCD. And with that often comes shame, guilt, and feeling like you have to handle it on your own.

OCD isn’t just about being “particular” or “organized.” It’s a constant cycle of ~~anxiety~~ that doesn’t simply switch off. Imagine the most anxious moment you’ve had… and then imagine that feeling sticking around.

Because of stigma and misunderstanding, many people don’t get the support they need. Sometimes it’s dismissed, or mistaken for general anxiety. But OCD requires a different, specialized approach.

Getting the right diagnosis matters. The right support matters even more.

You’re not alone in this, even if it’s felt that way for a long time. And when you’re supported by people who truly understand OCD, it can make all the difference. 💙

At 14 it was the stove. At 34 it was whether reality is real. In between, germs, harm thoughts, your relationship, your health, your job, your baby.

Does that pattern sound familiar?

Theme-switching is one of the most disorienting parts of having OCD. The content keeps changing. The loop doesn’t. You’re not getting worse every time it shifts. You’re watching the same mechanism find new material.

Save this for the next time it switches.

Taking the first step can feel overwhelming. It asks a lot of you.

But reaching out? That already says so much about your strength.

At OCD North, we meet you exactly where you are. We move at a pace that feels manageable, together. You don’t have to have it all figured out before you start.

That first step is often the hardest, but it’s also the one that opens the door to real, meaningful change. Many people tell us they only wish they had done it sooner.

If you’ve been thinking about getting support, this is your reminder that you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here when you’re ready. 💙

Do you ever feel like thinking something bad could make it happen? Magical thinking OCD can make thoughts feel dangerous, leading to rituals like avoiding certain numbers, repeating phrases, or mentally “undoing” bad thoughts. The truth? Thoughts are not actions, predictions, or warnings. They’re just thoughts. In our latest blog, we break down what magical thinking OCD looks like and how ERP therapy can help you stop giving these thoughts power.
