Did you know low back pain could be coming from muscle tightness in your glutes?

Yesterday I worked with a patient that walked with in low back discomfort and by massaging her glutes as well as low back she walked out without any low back discomfort.

Hello, and welcome to some more facts about Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, EDS and proprioception.

Last week I shared the 8 types of senses within our human body and today I am sharing why having an Hypermobility- EDS assessment is important.

Specifically acknowledging that Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome can impact our bodies ability to sense its own positition, and where we are as we move. taken from the EDS Clinic article.

Good morning, I hope your Wednesday is off to a great start!

Over the last couple weeks I have shared what is Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and what is Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, today I am sharing what are the sensory symptoms in our body.

Next week I will talk about why its important to know these sensory systems and how the relate to HSD and EDS.

Did you know that there are 8 sensory systems in our body?

Most of you will likely know the first 5, the remaining 3 are just as important.

Here are the 8 sensory systems in our bodies:
1. Vision (Sight)

2. Audition (Hearing)

3. Oldfaction (smell)

4. Gustation (taste)

5. Tactition (touch)

6. Vestibular (balance)

7. Proprioception (body awareness)

8. Interoception (organ signals)

Its Wednesday so its time for a another edition of what is Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of 13 heritable connective tissue disorders. The conditions are caused by genetic changes that affect connective tissue. Each type of EDS has its own set of features with distinct diagnostic criteria. Some features are seen across all types of EDS, including joint hypermobility, skin hyperextensibility, and tissue fragility.
