Jeevanaya Wellness

Jeevanaya Wellness Jeevanaya provides traditional Ayurvedic wellness treatments, Ayurvedic Reflexology and aromatherapy Vata
It is the most powerful among the doshas.

According to Ayurveda, the universe is made of five primordial elements, namely earth, air, fire, water and ether. These elements themselves are inanimate, but in combination, give rise to three main biological forces or principles in the human body, called doshas - , and, as every human being has a different balance of elements, one dosha is typically predominant in our constitution and ascertains our personality. Jeevanaya Ayurvedic massages or treatments are offered in a very soothing and relaxing environment after a detailed consultation, which specifies daily routines, diet and wellness activities. The consultation focuses on balancing the three bio energetic forces in the human body, namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha

The Tridosha Theory
When the five eternal substances – space, air, fire, water and earth combine to form the human body, they do so by creating three vital energies, or doshas. These are the forces that govern all psycho-physiological functions in the body and mind respectively. They construct the body and serve to maintain it in a dynamic state of health. However, when these vital forces are aggravated, due to improper gross or subtle factors, the body- mind connection begins to suffer and the disease process begins. Formed by the interaction of space and air, Vata is movement, the body in motion. Warm food, moderately heavy textures, added butter and fat; salt, sour, and sweet tastes; soothing and satisfying foods, All are good for settling the disturbed Vata. Use food such as: warm milk, cream, butter, warm soups, stews, and hot cereals, fresh baked. Pitta
Formed by the interaction of fire and water…the polarity of these two elements plays an important role for Pitta, which regulates the body metabolism and transformations in the body’s form. Cool or warm but not steaming hot foods; bitter, sweet, and astringent tastes, are what are perfect for this body type. Take cool, refreshing food in summer. Reduce the consumption of salt, oil and spices, all of which are “heating” to the body. Salads are good, so is milk and ice cream. Kapha
It is formed by the structural properties of earth, with water in its role as a lubricant to different tissues of the body, which also aids strength and adds stamina to the body. Warm light food, dry food, cooked without much water, minimum of butter, oil and sugar are recommended for this body type. Stimulating foods with pungent, bitter and astringent tastes and deep fried foods are best avoided. Eat lightly cooked foods or raw fruits and vegetables. ‘Eat’ spicy, bitter and astringent foods. Watch out for eating that little bit extra, a typical Kapha tendency. Ayurveda promotes a lifestyle that is in harmony with Mother Nature. To book your session, visit www.jeevanayawellness.com

Viparita Karani, also called Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose, is a supported restorative yoga posture.

This five-slide guide from Jeevanaya Wellness in Barrie, Ontario, explains how to set up the pose, adjust it for comfort and know when to stop.

How to try it:
1️⃣ Sit sideways near a wall with one hip close to it.
2️⃣ Lower gently onto your back while bringing your legs up the wall.
3️⃣ Rest your arms comfortably and breathe naturally.
4️⃣ To come out, bend your knees, roll onto one side and rise slowly.
Your legs do not need to be perfectly straight. You can move farther from the wall, soften your knees or use a folded blanket for support.
Stay only while you feel comfortable. Leave the pose if you experience pain, numbness, tingling, dizziness, breathlessness or anything that does not feel right. If you are unsure whether this posture is suitable for you, speak with a qualified yoga teacher or healthcare professional.

171 reviews. 4.8 stars. Here's what Barrie actually says. ✨

We don't write these — you do. Every line in this video is a real Google review from someone who walked through our doors on Bell Farm Road.

"Honestly one of the best massage spots in Barrie."
"The head massage part just made me sleep."
"I left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and genuinely cared for."

Google tags "a relaxing atmosphere" on 27 of them. That's the one that means the most — it's the thing we work hardest at.

There's a feeling you only get on the table.

You know the one. Your shoulders drop before the first stroke is even finished. They find the knot without you saying a word. Somewhere in the middle your brain goes quiet for the first time all week — and you fall asleep, and nobody minds.

Then you walk out taller than you walked in.

That's the whole point of it.

Happy Onam from all of us at Jeevanaya Wellness 🌼

Today is Thiruvonam — the last and biggest day of Kerala's ten-day harvest festival. Doorsteps are laid with pookalam, the carpet of fresh flowers. And at the centre of it all is the Onam Sadhya: twenty-odd dishes served on a single banana leaf.

It looks like abundance for its own sake. It isn't.

Ayurveda teaches that a complete meal carries all six tastes — sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent. Each one does something different. The sweet builds, the bitter cleanses, the astringent settles. Leave one out and the meal is incomplete, no matter how much of it there is.

The Sadhya has every single one. Payasam for sweet. Pulissery for sour. A pinch of salt, placed on the leaf before anything else. Ginger and pepper for pungent. Pavakka for bitter. Raw banana for astringent. Served in a fixed order, and eaten in the opposite direction.

Centuries before anyone used the phrase "balanced diet", Kerala was serving one — and calling it a feast.

To all our Malayali friends and neighbours here in Barrie: wishing you a very Happy Onam.

You booked everyone else's appointments this month.

The dentist. The vet. The kids' eye test. The car. The dog. The parent-teacher thing you moved twice and still made.

And somewhere on that list, in handwriting only you can read, is the one for you. It's been moving to next month since roughly February.

Here's the thing nobody says out loud: looking after your skin isn't vanity, and it isn't indulgence. It's the one hour in the week where nobody needs anything from you. Nobody is asking you a question. Your phone is in a drawer. Someone else is in charge for sixty minutes.

That isn't a luxury. For most of the women who come to us, it's simply the only hour all week that belongs to them.

📍 Our Beauty & Skin Studio is now open at 40 Bell Farm Road, Barrie.

Opening offer — Signature HydraFacial with a free LED add-on, $99 (regularly $170). One opening offer per visit, no stacking.

India gave the world chai.

Yoga. The number zero. Buttons, actually, and shampoo, and the rules of chess.

And Ayurveda — five thousand years of warm oil, steady hands and unhurried attention. It's the reason this place exists, six thousand miles from where it started.

Today we just want to say thank you to the country it came from.

Happy Independence Day 🇮🇳 Eighty years.

You've been tired so long you stopped calling it tired.

You call it busy. You call it fine. You say "I just need one good sleep" — and then you don't get one, and the week starts again.

Somewhere along the way your shoulders took up a position and never came down from it. You notice it reaching for something on a high shelf. You notice it at 2am.

Your body isn't broken, and it isn't failing you. It has been on duty — for the job, the kids, the parents, the house — without a proper break, for a very long time. That isn't weakness. That's a body doing exactly what was asked of it.

Abhyanga is the oldest answer we have: warm oil, steady hands, and ninety minutes in which nothing at all is required of you.

You're allowed to put it down.

Take a gentle pause for your body and mind. 🌿

Malasana, or Garland Pose, may help gently stretch the hips, groin, and ankles while supporting an upright posture and slower, more mindful breathing.

Hold the pose for a few comfortable breaths, and place a folded towel or blanket beneath your heels if you need extra support. Move gently and always listen to your body.
