🌿 MINDFUL MONDAY: NOURISHMENT IS PART OF HEALING 💗
When you're going through cancer treatment, food can sometimes become complicated. Things you once enjoyed may suddenly taste different.
Nausea may make eating difficult. Your appetite may disappear.
Or you may simply feel too exhausted to think about preparing a meal.
And that's okay. You don't have to navigate it alone.
Your body is going through a lot, and giving it the nourishment it needs can be an important part of supporting your strength and recovery.
🍲 Think small when a full meal feels overwhelming.
A few bites or smaller meals throughout the day may feel more manageable.
🥚 Focus on protein and nourishing foods when you can.
Protein helps support the maintenance and repair of body tissues.
🍓 Choose foods that appeal to you.
During treatment, your tastes and appetite can change. There is no prize for forcing yourself to eat something that makes you feel unwell.
💧 Don't forget your fluids.
Water and other nourishing fluids are important, especially if you're struggling with eating.
And most importantly... If treatment is making it difficult to eat or drink enough, tell your healthcare team. A doctor, nurse or registered dietitian can help you find practical ways to meet your nutritional needs during treatment.
Asking for help isn't failing.
Eating differently isn't failing.
Taking things one bite at a time isn't failing.
Your job isn't to do this perfectly. Your job is to care for yourself through it.
Give yourself permission to nourish your body in whatever way feels manageable today.
One meal.
One snack.
One sip.
One moment at a time.
