What is Osteopathic Manual Treatment?

It's one of the most common questions we hear at Quinn Rehab!

Osteopathic Manual Treatment (OMT) is a gentle, hands-on approach that not only helps relieve pain and other symptoms but also looks for the underlying mechanical cause of discomfort and dysfunction.

By addressing the interconnectedness of the body's bones, muscles, joints, fascia, and organs, OMT works to restore balance, improve movement, and support your body's natural ability to heal.

Curious about osteopathic manual practice but not sure what actually happens during a session?

A typical appointment begins with a thorough health history and assessment. Your practitioner will use skilled touch to evaluate how your body is moving and where restrictions or imbalances may exist. Areas of tightness are addressed using hands-on, gentle techniques tailored to resolve your pain, swelling and discomfort.

OAO members are trained to treat the whole person, not just a single symptom. That means your care is built around your specific needs, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Visit osteopathyontario.org to find an OAO member near you.

June is National Athletic Therapy Month!

Athletic Therapists do much more than provide on-field medical coverage at sporting events. In clinic settings, they assess and treat musculoskeletal injuries, provide hands-on therapy, offer taping and bracing support, guide safe return-to-sport decisions, and help prevent future injuries.

We are fortunate to have Certified Athletic Therapist Nancy Spence as part of the team at Quinn Rehab. Nancy’s expertise and dedication help our patients recover, perform, and stay active with confidence.

Join us in recognizing and celebrating the valuable role Athletic Therapists play in keeping our communities healthy and moving!

From common injuries to everyday activities leading to muscle and joint pain, Certified Athletic Therapists are there.

Athletic Therapy is about more than recovery. It’s about helping people regain confidence in their movement, performance, and daily lives through every stage of the process.

This Athletic Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the trust, care, and expertise behind the profession.

It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of Sebastian “Bas” Asselbergs on May 19th, 2026.

Bas served Barrie as a physiotherapist for decades, starting at Cedar Pointe Physiotherapy, then going on to open Allandale Physiotherapy. There, he provided care for a wide variety of people, from children to retirees to world-class figure skaters from the Mariposa Club.

We were honoured that when Bas decided to reduce his workload and close Allandale Physiotherapy, he chose to join us at Quinnrehab. He contributed greatly to our team while continuing to treat his patients with his typical care and expertise.

Bas’ wit, wisdom and style will be missed immensely by all of us here, as well as by all of the people he has helped over the years.

For those living with Multiple Sclerosis, pain and fatigue are more than just symptoms—they are daily hurdles that impact mobility and independence.

Massage therapy offers a supportive path forward. By helping to manage physical discomfort and easing the nervous system, it can play a vital role in helping individuals stay active and engaged in the activities they love most.

💡 Whether it’s improving sleep quality or reducing muscle tension, RMTs are part of the collaborative care team for the MS community.

Physiotherapy helps the people in Ontario stay independent.

For many people, independence means being able to walk safely, get up from a chair, climb stairs, leave the house, return to work, or take part in family and community life.

Physiotherapy supports strength, balance, mobility, falls prevention, pain management, and function, helping people stay active and engaged at every stage of life.

This National Physiotherapy Month, we're celebrating the physiotherapy professionals who help people keep moving with confidence.
