🦶 Understanding your foot type can help minimize the risk of injury! Here’s a quick guide:

🔷 High Arch: Minimal contact, poor shock absorption, risk of plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, and lateral ankle sprains.

🔷 Normal Arch: Even weight distribution, balanced foot structure.

🔷 Flat Arch: Extensive contact, overly flexible, risk of Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, and medial ankle sprains.

Check your foot type at home:
1️⃣ Wet your foot.
2️⃣ Step on a dry surface like paper or concrete.
3️⃣ Observe the contact pattern:

🔺 High Arch: Only the heel and ball of your foot make contact, with little to no imprint of the arch.

🔺 Normal Arch: A distinct curve along the inside of your foot with a moderate space between the heel and the ball.

🔺 Flat Arch: Most or all of the bottom of your foot makes contact, leaving a full imprint.

Knowing your foot type helps you choose the right footwear and exercises to prevent injuries! If you’re interested in setting up an assessment with one of our clinicians, book an appointment today: https://bit.ly/4rEuyc3

Seated knee extensions are an excellent movement to strengthen your quadriceps. This bodyweight extension without a machine is less stressful on the knees, making it an ideal alternative for those with knee problems.

Let’s get started:
1. Sit tall with your shoulders back and down
2. Lift one leg up and extend it at the knee
3. Hold this leg briefly at the top of the movement while squeezing the muscles at the front of your thigh
4. Lower your leg back down, slowly and controlled
5. Repeat for the set repetitions and then switch legs

💪 Rotator cuff injuries are quite common, often caused by repetitive overhead motions.

➡️ Keeping the rotator cuff muscles strong and flexible can help prevent these kinds of injuries!

➡️ One set of exercises to help with this are the side lying rotations.

✅ For the side lying internal rotation, ensure your head is propped up with a pillow and use a light weight of some kind, moving it towards your body
✅ For both, ensure you're keeping your moving arm at a 90-degree angle, and give these exercises a try three times a day

We often get asked: “What should I bring to my initial assessment?” 🤔 This checklist is here to help! ✅

Once your appointment is scheduled, our team will send online paperwork 🖥️📄 that you can complete before coming in. Alternatively, we have paper copies available at the clinic for your first visit. 🖊️

Our care coordinators will walk you through the necessary paperwork and set everything up before you meet with your practitioner. While a referral isn’t required to book, it may be needed for direct billing to extended health care. If you have one, please bring it along to add to your file. 📁

We offer direct billing to most extended care providers, 💳 and we’ll take care of this for you while you’re in for assessment.

When meeting your practitioner, they’ll perform a series of tests to determine your plan of care and go over everything with you. 💡

Let us know below if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you in the clinic! 🏥😊

Time to get the heart pumping with some small hops! These little jumps require no equipment and can be performed wherever and whenever. Jumping builds strength and improves muscle tone, is an excellent calorie-burner, improves balance and muscle coordination, metabolism and heart health.

So... let's get hopping!
1. Stand with your feet shoulder-distance apart
2. Place your hands on your waist and slightly bend your knees
3. Hop upwards

Try to do as many small hops as you can in 30 seconds. And remember: we're going for speed, not height.

Everyone suffers from tight hamstrings from time to time. And if you play a sport that involves running and/or sprinting you are especially prone to developing tightness or injury in these muscles.

Stretching your hamstrings regularly can help minimize the chance of injury. Let's try the seated hamstring stretch.

1. Sit near the edge of a chair with your feet flat on the floor.
2. Straighten one leg with your heel on the floor and your toes pointing up.
3. Bend forward at the hip and make sure your spine is in a neutral position.
4. Hold the stretch for 30 seconds and repeat two to four times.
5. Switch legs and repeat the steps.

As we begin to see some restrictions lifted, pt Health is actively working on expanding the number of clinics available for in-person care, including our clinic!

In accordance with public health guidance, we are making numerous changes to how our clinic operates and have implemented enhanced measures to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff.

That’s why we have implemented the S.A.F.E.R. approach, designed to allow our team to safely deliver the best possible care for you. We encourage you to read about the S.A.F.E.R. approach here: https://bit.ly/2LEcJH1

**Please note that these enhanced measures include limiting the number of patients we see in the clinic, based on space and ability to maintain physical distancing. Our clinicians also continue to provide a range of services through virtual care.**
