St. Francis Memorial Hospital is honoured to share that beautiful Indigenous artwork will be on display within the hospital.

These meaningful pieces were created by Connor Sarazin of Kiniw Studio, a First Nations-owned business and artist from Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation.

Each piece reflects a unique story, culture, and sense of connection, bringing warmth and meaning to spaces shared by patients, families, staff, and visitors.

The addition of Indigenous artwork to the hospital environment provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate Indigenous creativity, perspectives and traditions while creating spaces that feel welcoming, reflective and connected to the community.

Sincere thanks to Connor for sharing his beautiful artwork with SFMH and for helping bring these meaningful pieces into our hospital space.

Volunteer Drivers Needed in Barry's Bay!

The Canadian Cancer Society's Wheels of Hope program is looking for volunteer drivers to help local cancer patients get to and from treatment appointments.

For many people facing cancer, especially those living in rural communities, transportation can be one of the biggest barriers to accessing care. Volunteer drivers help ensure patients can get where they need to be, reducing stress at a time when they should be focused on their health and well-being.

More than just providing a ride, Wheels of Hope drivers offer a reassuring presence and a connection to their community. Many volunteers describe the experience as deeply meaningful and rewarding, knowing they are making a genuine difference in someone's life during a challenging time.

Yesterday, I was proud to announce provincial funding for all of our 5 local hospitals in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke. Firstly, more than $7 million in operating funding, with increases for every hospital in our riding from the previous year.

This investment will support the day-to-day operations of five local hospitals, helping keep emergency departments open, support health care teams, and reduce wait times for diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures.

Additionally, through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, five local hospitals will receive funding for critical repairs, upgrades, and infrastructure renewal with over $5 million dollars in investments locally.

These investments will help ensure our hospitals remain safe, reliable, and equipped to provide quality care close to home.

That's over $12 million dollars in funding for hospitals right here in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.

Celebrating Leadership and Looking Ahead

At St. Francis Memorial Hospital's Annual General Meeting on June 23, 2026, the Board recognized the many contributions of Dr. Jason Malinowski as he concluded his tenure as Chief of Staff and stepped down from the Board after years of dedicated service to the organization and the community.

The AGM also marked the welcoming of John Swick as the Board's newest member. John brings extensive leadership experience from a distinguished career with the Ontario Public Service, including strategic planning, relationship building, natural resource management, and community engagement.

Thank you to Dr. Malinowski for his commitment and contributions to SFMH, and welcome to John as he begins his Board service. Strong governance is essential to supporting quality care close to home, and SFMH looks forward to the leadership and perspectives that will help guide the organization in the years ahead.

Caregiver Support Program: Aging Well: Exploring Care and Support Options

Join St. Francis Memorial Hospital and Renfrew Victoria Hospital for a free educational session focused on the services and supports available to help older adults maintain their independence and quality of life. Learn about home care, community support programs, and senior living options, and gain valuable information to help make informed decisions for the future.

These free community sessions are open to everyone—including caregivers, family members, older adults, and community members interested in learning more about available supports.

This session is part of the Caregiver Support Program, one of many free educational opportunities being offered to support caregivers, families, and community members across our region. New topics and upcoming sessions will be shared monthly.

Emergency Department Redevelopment Update:

Earlier this month, St. Francis Memorial Hospital shared information about changes to parking, entrances, and access routes related to Phase 2 of the Emergency Department Redevelopment Project. As a follow-up, a new wayfinding summary document is now available to help patients and visitors navigate the hospital with confidence during construction. The document includes maps, numbered photos, and step-by-step directions to key service areas.

Thank you to our patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, volunteers, and community members for your continued patience and support as this exciting project moves forward. Together, we are building a stronger hospital for the future.
