All jokes aside, autonomy over your mental health related care is so important..and the right support is equally important. If you are considering making changes to your medication, speak to your prescriber and/or pharmacist for support on how to do so safely.

I believe that the inner work we do as therapists' is the most meaningful thing we can do to improve clinically. Therapists are committed to support folks in navigating complex inner landscapes, relational dynamics, attachment wounds, core beliefs, values, life transitions, traumatic events, and so much more. The capacity to hold space for profound change and show up in the most ethical ways starts with how we can relate to ourselves first. Therapeutic change happens inside a strong therapeutic relationship. It starts with a nervous system that can hold the complexity of what can show up relationally in the therapy room. 💟

This is a snippet of what an integrative therapy session with me could look like with me. I offer trauma-informed therapy and integrate somatic psychology, relational therapy, EMDR, and other modalities depending on your specific needs and preferences. ☀️

Take a short regulation break with me. Orienting to the present moment through my senses, self-soothing through touch, connecting to my breath, and using movement and shaking are all nourishing tools that I tap into frequently in service of my nervous system wellness. Find what works for you. Everyone responds differently with what they experience as useful. The same tools may not work all the time, you may need to implement a variety. Implementing grounding and nervous system regulation practices into your daily routine can make them easier to access during periods of higher stress. 💞

Being able to navigate life while holding yourself accountable when appropriate AND maintaining self-compassion is a huge win! This is often difficult for folks who live with the impacts of complex trauma and chronic shame. Holding yourself accountable does NOT mean attempting to intensely shame yourself into changed actions. In fact, chronic shame can keep us stuck and prevent us from making change. Self-compassion involves recognizing that we are all imperfect humans and that we are worthy regardless. We can acknowledge our areas where growth can occur, without over-identifying with them.

These are a few things I do as a therapist who frequently supports folx with complex trauma. These are not specific to working with trauma, but are absolutely crucial here. All of these are done within the context of the therapeutic relationship and require nuance. It is not mechanical, it is not neatly packaged. 💕

I am super excited to share that I have completed the 45-hour somatic developmental trauma therapy certificate program with Embody Lab! This is my second certificate program with Embody Lab and marks over 100 hours of training in integrative somatic therapy interventions.

The opportunity to receive training from experts in the field of complex trauma treatment has been both enriching and challenging. I love Embody Lab education for the holistic, embodied approach to knowledge dissemination and learning.

I've enhanced my clinical skills and knowledge surrounding developmental trauma and the profound impacts across the lifespan. Learning about human development and functioning has been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember. It is through healthy development - cultivated with safety, attunement, love, regulation, and other basic needs, that I believe we can create a better world moving forward. When we create space for healing past wounds and show up with more compassion, regulation, and appropriate boundaries, we can collectively set the tone for future generations to do the same. 💞🌍

Talk therapy is powerful for insight, meaning-making, and cognitive shifts. But trauma, chronic stress, and attachment wounds don’t just live in our thoughts- they live in the body. Patterns like shutdown, hypervigilance, people-pleasing, or emotional overwhelm are often nervous system responses, not simply “mindset” issues. For many people - especially those with developmental or relational trauma - insight alone isn’t enough. The nervous system needs new experiences of safety, agency, and regulation.
