Diamond Physiotherapy's First Book Review β by Liza ππ
Hi, I'm Liza β social worker, former midwife, and someone who cannot resist a book that tackles real life through fiction.
So when I stumbled across a romcom where the main character has secondary vaginismus β involuntary muscle spasms that impact or limit s*x β I was absolutely picking that up. π
Here's what I loved:
π It's genuinely funny. Like, laugh out loud, genitalia humour in the workplace funny. Liza approved. π
π It goes beyond the physical. The author doesn't just address the pain β she captures how the condition ripples into identity, relationships, friendships and focus at work. That part hit differently.
π₯ Surprisingly not spicy. The intimate scenes are more emotional than graphic. Honest rather than steamy β and honestly, more powerful for it.
π§ Bonus: there may or may not be a parking lot cupcake fight. I have questions. I also have no complaints.
My one (very biased) note β the main character absolutely could have used some mental health support alongside her pelvic physiotherapy. Just saying. πββοΈ
