💜 Together, we can make a difference!

Mind Matters is proud to support the Bethesda House Donation Drive by collecting essential items at our King St. location in Bowmanville.

Bethesda House provides a safe and supportive space for women and children fleeing gender-based violence. Donations—big or small—can help provide comfort, care, and essential resources to those rebuilding their lives. Every item collected can make a meaningful impact. 💜

We are currently collecting items such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, deodorant, face wash/cream, toothpaste and toothbrushes, kids’ toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap and body care items, hair brushes and hair care items, school snacks, and other non-perishable food items.

📍 Drop off your donations at our King St. office in Bowmanville

📅 Donations accepted now until September 15th

Thank you for helping us support our community and bring a little more hope, comfort, and care to women and children who need it most. Please consider donating and sharing this post to help us spread the word! 🫶

🌸 What an amazing week at Girls Summer Therapy Camp! 🌸

We’re still smiling thinking about the incredible 10 girls who spent three wonderful days with us! 💕 Throughout the camp, we shared great conversations, explored important topics, enjoyed fun activities, and got creative with some amazing crafts. 🎨✨
It was so special to watch the girls connect, support one another, share their experiences, and build confidence in a safe and welcoming space. We’re incredibly grateful to each of them for bringing their unique personalities, creativity, and energy to camp! 🌿💗
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our first Girls Summer Therapy Camp such a memorable experience. We had SO much fun—and we’re already looking forward to what’s next! 🥰

✨ Please join us in welcoming Nikki to the Mind Matters team! ✨

Nikki is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who is currently accepting new clients in Oshawa on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at our King St. location in Bowmanville on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Nikki brings a warm, compassionate, and client-centred approach to therapy, creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves. She believes that every person’s journey is unique and is passionate about meeting clients where they are.

With a background in behavioural therapy, including experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families, Nikki understands the importance of individualized care, empathy, structure, and creativity. She integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailoring her work to each client’s unique experiences, needs, and goals.

Nikki believes therapy can be both supportive and practical. Her goal is to walk alongside clients as they develop greater self-understanding, explore their experiences, build meaningful coping strategies, and recognize their own strengths. 💙

Outside of the therapy room, Nikki enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, practicing yoga and Pilates, exploring new places, and taking long walks with her dog—especially when treats are involved! 🐾 She brings that same warmth, curiosity, and appreciation for life’s little moments into her work, celebrating both the small steps and meaningful milestones along the way.

🌿 Now accepting new clients!

🚨 4 Signs Your Nervous System Is Overloaded 🚨

Your nervous system is responsible for helping your body respond to stress and return to a state of calm. But when stress becomes chronic, your nervous system can stay "stuck" in survival mode—making it difficult to feel rested, focused, or emotionally regulated.

Here are four common signs your nervous system may be asking for support:

🧠 1. Constant Alert Mode
Do you always feel like you're waiting for the next thing to go wrong? Constantly scanning for danger, feeling on edge, or struggling to relax may be a sign that your nervous system is stuck in a heightened state of alertness.

⚠️ 2. Low Stress Tolerance
When your nervous system is overloaded, even small inconveniences can feel overwhelming. You may notice yourself becoming more irritable, emotional, or feeling like you have "nothing left in the tank."

😴 3. Rest Without Relief
Have you ever slept for 8 hours but still felt exhausted? When your body remains in a state of chronic stress, true restoration becomes difficult. Rest is important—but an overloaded nervous system often needs intentional regulation before it can fully recharge.

🌫️ 4. Mental Fog
Difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, indecisiveness, or feeling like your brain is "cloudy" can all be signs that your nervous system is overwhelmed. When your brain is focused on survival, it has fewer resources available for memory, problem-solving, and focus.

💙 The good news? Your nervous system can learn to feel safe again. Therapy can help you better understand your stress responses, process underlying experiences, and build practical strategies to regulate your nervous system so you can feel calmer, more present, and more resilient.

If these signs sound familiar, know that you don't have to navigate them alone.
