This year, our Muskoka Mocha volunteers have decided to use the tips they've received from their customers - staff, visitors and patients - to purchase a Power Assist Tilt wheelchair to provide further comfort to patients.

Thank you to everyone for the tips. You helped make a difference at our Hospital.

We currently have an amazing group of volunteers who keep the coffee shop open seven days a week! However, we are always looking for more volunteers. If interested please call our Volunteer Co-ordinator - Karen Bellamy 705-645-4404. Ext 3338.

Each year, our Auxiliary grants two scholarships; one to a student graduating from a local high school who is pursuing studies in the health sciences, and the other to a MAHC staff member who is continuing their studies.

Please join us in congratulating our 2026 Scholarships Winners, Nancy Andrews and Lola Mahon.

Nancy, a nurse at MAHC since 2001 and current Clinical Informatics Coordinator in the IT Department. Nancy is completing a university certificate in health informatics, a specialized course to understand and assist the multiple departments, teams and players who provide service in our hospital, to use technology to the fullest to support better care.

Lola is a BMLSS graduate who plans to attend Laurentian University in this fall to obtain a combined degree pf Honours Bachelor of Science Specialized in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Education Junior-Intermediate. Lola has been volunteering with the Auxiliary at Muskoka Mocha since 2023.

We wish them both great success in their new endeavors.

SMMH Auxiliary was happy to present Hospice Muskoka with a two hundred dollar donation in appreciation of their Development and Communications Manager, Jody Somerville, speaking to our members at our Annual General Meeting.

The Auxiliary's Tag Day, held on Saturday July 18h through-out Muskoka, was successful despite the terrible wet weather.

THANK YOU to all the volunteers who manned the donation boxes and THANK YOU to all the people who donated.

All proceeds collected will be used by the Auxiliary to purchase much needed equipment for the Hospital.

Look for Auxiliary volunteers out front at various grocery stores, drugstores, hardware stores and the Hospital in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Port Carling. They will be there with their donation boxes for TAG DAY.

TAG DAY is our major offsite fundraiser where we ask for donations around town to allow us to continue to purchase equipment for South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. In previous years, we have been able to provide SMMH with day surgery wheelchairs, a crash cart with accessories, a blanket warmer and more.

STAR 200 Awards are given to Volunteers who have donated over 200 hours in the past year. Congratulations to these very dedicated volunteers.

During our fiscal 25/26 year, SMMH Auxiliary Volunteers worked a combined total of 18,911 hours! That's the equivalent of 9 1/2 full time employees! That's 9 1/2 full time positions that SMMH did not have to pay for!

This week, the SMMH Auxiliary wants to highlight and congratulate all the service pin recipients and award winners who were recognized at our AGM on June 25th.

Auxiliary Life Member Awards are given to volunteers who have at least 10 years of service with at least 3 years as a Convenor or Executive of Committee Chair.
