Severe weather may affect our area this afternoon into the evening, with the possibility of heavy rain, damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes.

Please stay indoors whenever possible, keep away from windows and avoid unnecessary travel during severe conditions. HCH tenants are encouraged to check Channel 990 regularly for building updates.

Keep your mobile phone and essential equipment charged, have a working flashlight nearby and continue monitoring local weather reports and emergency alerts.

This month is an important opportunity to raise awareness, deepen understanding and continue learning about the experiences of people living with dementia.

Recently, our Care Partners participated in a hands-on dementia simulation, experiencing some of the changes a person living with dementia may faceโ€”including changes in vision, hearing, mobility and cognition.

By experiencing how these changes can affect everyday tasks and interactions, our Care Partners gained a deeper understanding of the importance of patience, empathy and person-centred care.

Sometimes, the best way to better understand someoneโ€™s experience is to try to see the world through their eyes. ๐Ÿ’œ

Some moments are simply too important to miss. ๐Ÿ’โค๏ธ

When a Grace Manor resident couldnโ€™t be there in person for her granddaughterโ€™s wedding day, our Care Partners found a way to bring them together.

Through a video call, she was able to see her granddaughter on her special day, share in the excitement and be part of a beautiful family milestone. โœจ

Her family kindly gave us permission to share this photo and expressed how much the moment meant to them:
โ€œThank you so much to Grace Manor Care Partners for your thoughtfulness in having this picture taken for my daughter. We really appreciated all the effort put in to make it possible for my mom and my daughter to connect on her wedding day. ๐Ÿ˜Šโ€

As summer begins to wind down, most of our Canada Summer Jobs students have wrapped up their time with us at Holland Christian Homes โ€” and we want to say a big thank you! ๐Ÿ’™

The Canada Summer Jobs program creates opportunities for young people across the country to gain valuable work experience, develop new skills, explore their interests, and build a strong foundation for their future.

We were fortunate to have a wonderful group of students join our HCH community this summer. Their energy, enthusiasm, and helping hands made a difference to our residents, tenants, staff, and programs throughout the organization.
