Manitoba’s Clare’s Law

Please note that The Disclosure to Protect Against Intimate Partner Violence Act comes into force on March 1, 2026. Applications will be accepted beginning on March 1, 2026.

If someone thinks they might be at risk of intimate partner violence from a current or former intimate or romantic partner, they can apply to Manitoba’s Clare’s Law program for help.

What is Clare’s Law?

In Manitoba, The Disclosure to Protect Against Intimate Partner Violence Act (also known as Clare’s Law) provides pathways to help people stay safe in their relationships. If someone is worried that a current or former intimate/ romantic partner may have a history of domestic violence they can apply to find out if that person has a known history of violent or abusive behaviour. This information can help them make informed and safer choices.

The MB government link below contains more information about who can apply and how to do so.

Let's empower and support women in politics!

Media Release: Her Seat at the Table (HSATT) is ready to inspire more women to run for office with their next event in March.

HSATT is excited to host a panel discussion on Tuesday, March 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lorne Watson Music Hall at Brandon University. A panel of experts will lead an educational and eye-opening conversation for women who are interested in running for political office. Previously planned for February, the discussion has moved to early March.

The event will feature an interactive conversation, led by a skilled facilitator who will guide the discussion and lead a Q-and-A session. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the opportunity to network, and the discussion beginning at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.Children are welcome to attend, and age-appropriate activity packages will be available.

This event follows on the heels of the successful HSATT open house in December which welcomed a large turnout of community members of all different ages and backgrounds who were interested in the work of HSATT and learning more about how and what it means to run for civic office. HSATT volunteers, City of Brandon staff, and many Brandon City Councillors were on hand during the open house to answer questions. Stay tuned for what HSATT has planned next!

HSATT is a grassroots-led initiative. Our mission is to support and empower women to run for seats on Brandon City Council by providing the training, mentorship, tools and community needed to lead with confidence and purpose. We aim to break down barriers, amplify women’s voices and build a stronger, more representative Brandon for all.

Please share widely. Let's support and empower women in government!

Her Seat at the Table (HSATT) is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, December 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Backyard on Aberdeen. It’s a casual gathering for women in Brandon and the Westman region who are curious about getting involved in municipal leadership. It’s a chance to get a feel for what’s possible, ask questions, and meet others who are thinking about getting involved. Here, women can find the basics on running for Brandon City Council (or other municipalities), as well as more support and resources related to running effective campaigns.

Her Seat at the Table was formed to inspire and help more women to run and successfully win seats at the Brandon City Council table and form a more inclusive government. Currently, Heather Karrouze, Councillor for Ward 1, is the only female councillor out of 11 council seats (including the Mayor’s seat).

HSATT is a grassroots led organization. Our mission is to support and empower women
to run for seats on Brandon City Council by providing the training, mentorship, tools, and community needed to lead with confidence and purpose. We aim to break down
barriers, amplify women's voices, and build a stronger, more representative Brandon for all.
