Yesterday morning a child kept bringing flowers over to the bench where I was sitting. One at a time, running back to pick a new one before carefully placing them down on the wood and stepping back to look.

Moments like this feel like a gentle reminder for me.

Connection with nature doesn’t need to be taught through big lessons! Often it begins with small moments of noticing and following their lead.

A couple small invitations on the windowsill. Our kiddos have been looking through the window a lot as of late. Each day spring brings some new changes. When we slow down and observe, what can we notice?

What might be growing?

Spring break looked a little different over here.

More mess. More noise. More toys everywhere than I care to admit.

But also more laughter. More imagination. More moments where I look over and see three little humans completely absorbed in what they’re doing.

The house can always be cleaned. These moments are the ones I want to hold onto.

Some of the most engaging learning experiences are the ones that emerge naturally! Wild coming from someone who loves a good plan 😂

One child’s curiosity about chalk has slowly turned into an ongoing investigation in our space. We’ve tested wet chalk, dry chalk, and experimenting with how it behaves on different surfaces. Wood, fabric, metal, chalkboards, and today the screen door! All lead by this one child!

Each surface changes the mark. The resistance. The texture.

When children are given time and materials, inquiry unfolds on its own. They have taught me how to let go, step back and observe natural curiosity lead the pace.
