Sept. 7th - members of the Brighton Car Club visited on the holiday Monday, to show their classic cars. Residents were thrilled to see them all and reminisce together about cars in their past. Thank you Brighton Car Club, for spending time with us!

August 20, 2026 - Residents enjoyed the fun, lively energy and music of "Stompin' John", who entertained during the monthly Happy Hour, social program. John is a local performer who is always a crowd pleaser at Applefest Retirement Residence.

Furry friends Molly and Charlie, from St. John's Pet Therapy program, visited with their handlers. Residents were delighted with the visit and look forward to seeing them again!

Friday, August 28, 2026 - Applefest residents were pleased to welcome former CBS Records Executive, Don Oates, as a guest speaker. Don shared many stories and memories of famous musicians he had met and seen perform throughout his career. He also enlightened us with information about his work and how things have evolved over the year.
Special thanks goes out to Don's cousin, who helped arrange for him to present and share some of his memorabilia.

September 1st, 2026 - we are so fortunate to have had the Cobourg Brass & Pipe Band perform at Applefest. This group has been visiting many homes in the area throughout the summer and made sure to visit Applefest, on a perfect, late summer evening. This was extra special because one of our residents is a former member of the band. He enjoyed playing the bass drum for awhile!

Residents enjoyed a "Wonders of Nature"presentation and display this morning, by local Naturalist - Mel Belfry, Red Pine Roots. Her presentation was both educational and enlightening for the residents and thoroughly enjoyed. With this we welcomed the children from EarlyOn Children's Centre, Brighton.

It is true what they say about many hands makes light work! This week several residents were involved with corn husking and baking dog biscuits. The dog biscuits will be available at the Home's booth at Applefest Street Fair on September 26th
