Residents are grateful to the grades 2 to 6 students at Brighton Public School, who have shared their beautiful art pieces with us. A total of 74 colourful drawings adorn our walls at Applefest. Each one includes captions related to gratitude, safety and a preserving our planet. Residents shall enjoy looking at each of these pictures for many days to come. Well done everyone!

John Elderkin, Store Manager at Sobeys, Brighton, and his team member Stacey, surprised our staff today with a beautiful cake given to celebrate Healthcare Professionals Week. On behalf of all of the staff and management at Applefest Retirement Residence - we thank you for your kindness!

May 8th - we enjoyed a visit with children from EarlyOn Childcare Centre, Brighton. Many smiles and laughter were enjoyed. If only we could bottle their energy!

QUILT OF VALOUR
Friday, April 24, 2026
The residents at Applefest enjoyed a visit from Gay Gray, representative of the Army Navy League, Belleville. Gay stopped in to present the Quilt of Valor, which had belonged to former resident, Joice Foley. When Joice celebrated her 100th birthday at Applefest two years ago, the quilt was presented to her by her colleagues at the Brighton Legion. Joice passed away on her 101st birthday. Joice had bequeathed the quilt as a gift to Applefest, in honor of the Veterans who reside here, both past and present.
Gay spoke about her friendship with Joice over the years and stated that each of the Quilts of Valor made have their own unique pattern. None of the quilts have the same pattern. Therefore, each is very special and a great honor to receive.
The quilt shall be mounted on the wall with a memorial plaque next to it.
