🚧 Ontario Road Sign Spotlight: Construction Ahead 🚧

Have you noticed this orange diamond-shaped construction sign on Ontario roads?

🔶 What does it mean?
This sign warns drivers to slow down, stay alert, and be prepared for changing road conditions such as:
• Lane shifts
• Road work equipment
• Construction workers
• Temporary traffic control

📏 Did You Know?
The standard construction warning sign is 900 x 900 mm and is typically used on roads with speed limits of 60 km/h or less. On multi-lane or higher-speed roads (70 km/h or more), an oversized 1200 x 1200 mm sign is often used to improve visibility.

⚠️ Safety Reminder
Construction zones can change quickly. Always reduce your speed, follow posted signs, and obey directions from traffic control personnel.

💰 Know the Law
In Ontario, speeding fines are doubled in designated construction zones when workers are present. Slowing down doesn’t just save money—it helps protect the people working to improve our roads.

Another great week of Traffic Control is in the books!

We're grateful for the opportunity to work alongside some great individuals who share the same commitment to safety. Every lane closure, detour, and work zone is a team effort, and we're proud to help keep our workers, motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians safe throughout our communities.

🚧 Traffic Tip of the Week

Did you know? Your vehicle creates a strong air draft, especially when travelling at higher speeds. Passing too close or too fast to traffic control personnel or roadside workers can cause cones, signs, and even equipment to shift unexpectedly.

Slow down, leave extra space, and move over whenever it's safe to do so. A little extra caution helps protect the people working just metres from live traffic.

Thank you to everyone who slows down and respects Ontario work zones. Your patience helps ensure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.

Did you know that many confined spaces can appear safe but contain invisible hazards such as oxygen deficiency, toxic gases, or flammable atmospheres? That's why atmospheric testing, continuous monitoring, proper permits, and a trained rescue team are critical before anyone enters a confined space.

Another week of keeping Ontario moving safely! 🚧

Our Traffic Control team is back out on the roads this week, helping protect workers, motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians while projects move forward safely.

**Ontario Traffic Safety Tip of the Week: Slow Down and Stay Alert**

When approaching a construction or traffic control zone:
🚧 Reduce your speed and obey posted signs.
🚧 Watch for traffic control persons and follow their directions—they have the authority to direct traffic.
🚧 Leave extra space between your vehicle and the one ahead.
🚧 Avoid distractions. Put your phone away and keep your eyes on the road.
🚧 Be prepared for changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, stopped vehicles, and workers close to live traffic.

Remember, traffic control zones exist to protect everyone. A few extra seconds of patience can prevent a life-changing collision.

Drive safely, be courteous, and help everyone get home at the end of the day.

Whether we're setting up, directing traffic, or keeping work zones moving safely, **1000 Islands Safety** is ready for whatever the week brings.

**☀️ Traffic Tip:** Bright sunshine can be just as dangerous as rain or fog. If the sun is low on the horizon, reduce your speed, increase your following distance, and wear sunglasses to reduce glare. If you can't see clearly, neither can the workers or drivers around you.

Slow down, stay alert, and remember—everyone deserves to get home safely.
