From under ONE second to over TEN seconds in both eyes!
These before-and-after scans show an encouraging improvement in a patientโs tear-film stability following triLift treatments at ERC Optometry.
Tear breakup time measures how long the tear layer stays intact after a blink. When it breaks apart too quickly, areas of the eye can begin drying before the next blink, contributing to burning, grittiness and fluctuating vision.
Our treatment works on two important parts of that system:
Dynamic muscle stimulation (DMSt) works the muscle around the eye, aiming to improve muscle tone and support a more effective blink. A complete blink helps express oils from the meibomian glands and spread them across the eye.
Radiofrequency (RF) provides controlled warmth to help soften thickened oils within those glands, making them easier to express.
Together, the treatment aims to support oil flow and blinkingโthe teamwork that helps keep tears from evaporating too quickly.
In April, this patientโs tear film began breaking up in less than a second. At their latest assessment, it remained intact throughout recordings lasting over 10 seconds in both eyes.
And the patient reports that their eyes no longer feel dry!
