ERC Optometry is looking for a personable, organized, and detail-oriented individual to join our growing practice! If you thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment and enjoy providing top-tier patient care, we want to meet you. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring the clinic runs smoothly and every patient feels welcome.
We are looking for a candidate that has a passion for patient care, strong organizational skills, and experience working in a medical office setting. Prior optical sales experience is a plus, along with familiarity with electronic medical records and medical terminology. This position involves managing front desk duties, pre-testing patients for their eye exams and supporting daily clinic operations to ensure a smooth patient experience.
Responsibilities
You will balance front-desk administration with hands-on clinical support. Key responsibilities include:
· Patient Coordination: Managing the check-in/check-out process and providing a warm welcome to our patients.
· Scheduling: Efficiently managing the exam calendar to optimize clinic flow.
· Insurance & Billing: Processing insurance claims, verifying coverage, and handling payments.
· Administrative Support: Managing referrals and maintaining accurate electronic health records.
· Clinical Assisting: Performing pre-testing (using diagnostic equipment) to prepare patients for their exam with the Optometrist.
Opportunities for Growth & Professional Development
We believe in investing in our team. While you will start with core front-desk and pre-testing responsibilities, we offer dedicated pathways for you to expand your clinical or retail expertise based on your interests:
· The Optical Pathway: Learn the artistry of frame styling, lens technology, inventory management, and specialized contact lens training (including patient insertion and removal coaching).
· The Medical Pathway: Master advanced diagnostic technology, including OCT, Axial Length scans, and Corneal Topography to assist in ocular disease management.
· Dry Eye Specialization: Become a lead in our Dry Eye clinic, performing specialized diagnostics and assisting with innovative in-office treatments.
Our Goal: We strive for a fully cross-trained team where every member has the skills to support both the patient experience and our clinical excellence.
What We’re Looking For
· Communication Skills: A friendly, professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication.
· Tech Savvy: Comfort using scheduling software and electronic medical records (EMR).
· Multi-tasking: Ability to handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and clinical tasks simultaneously.
· Reliability: Strong organizational skills and a "team player" attitude.
· Experience (Asset): Prior experience in an Optical or Optometry setting is a significant plus, but not required—we are willing to train the right candidate!
· Growth Mindset: A desire to learn and evolve. Whether you are interested in the fashion and sales aspect of eyewear or the technical side of medical diagnostics, we want someone eager to expand their skillset.
