I breastfed both my babies but had VERY different feeding journeys.

I exclusively breastfed my first born for 14 months with an undiagnosed tongue tie. Unfortunately, I did not have the knowledge I do today regarding tethered oral tissues and oral motor function. After starting my journey to become an IBCLC, I discovered my son had sleep apnea and tongue/lip tie. Proceeded with frenectomy (tongue tie procedure) at 10 years old along with intense myofunctional therapy and an alf appliance. I am incredibly thankful for the providers that supported me through this experience.

My second born exclusively breastfed for 3 months and refused a bottle, breast refusal at 9 months, exclusively pumped for 1 month and introduced formula when breastmilk was not available, back to breast at 10 months until 12 months, then self weaned. Also refused cows milk.

These experiences have shaped me into both the mother and lactation consultant I am today. They have given me a deep understanding of the challenges that arise and a compassion for families navigating them. Whether you’re a first-time parent or seasoned one, please know that you are not alone!! With the right support, guidance and encouragement breastfeeding can become a more positive and empowering experience.

Why we don't sleep train:

😴 We would be telling families to go against their parental instincts by doing something they don't feel comfortable with, which is never a good thing.

😴 It doesn't get to the root of the childs wakes. It just puts a bandaid on it.

😴 Every child is unique, so what works for one doesn't always work for another.

😴 With CIO sleep training, it leaves the child in isolation to figure it out on their own. Even if they appear to be sleeping better, it doesn't mean they aren't waking up. They just aren't signaling to you to come and help them when they wake up.

There are always reasons that children (and even us as adults) are having difficulties sleeping. We determine the root cause of the sleep challenge and create an individual plan that works for your family as sleep is just a piece of the puzzle.

Do we guarantee better sleep in a certain period of time? No, because it isn't a one size fits all. We don't hand you a plan and promise that sleep will get better quickly. Babies and children aren't robots, after all. Everyone is different in their own way. What we do promise though is we will make you a priority and work with your family, nevering making you do something you feel uncomfortable with. We love the work that we do and want to help you feel more confident, less stressed, tired and anxious, and feeling good on your parenting journey!

Reach out if you need support. We would love to help you and your family!

✨ What is a weighted feed? ✨

If you’ve ever wondered, “Is my baby getting enough milk?” — you’re not alone 🤍

A weighted feed is a tool we use during a lactation consult. Your baby is weighed before and after a feed on a sensitive scale to see how much milk they’ve transferred.

💡 It can help us understand:
• How efficiently your baby is feeding
• Whether milk transfer is adequate
• If feeding challenges (like latch or tongue tie) are impacting intake

But here’s the important part ⬇️

A weighted feed is just one piece of the puzzle.
It doesn’t define your supply, your baby, or your breastfeeding journey.

We always look at the full picture:
✨ Baby’s cues
✨ Diaper output
✨ Weight gain

There is a huge misconception that weaning your baby at night will help them sleep longer stretches. Babies are meant to wake often to feed, especially in the first first months.

A study of 715 mothers with infants age 6-12 months reported their infant waking throughout the night. From this study 78.6% still regularly woke at least once a night, with 61.4% receiving one or more milk feeds.

How often does your baby wake to feed at night? Comment 👇
