Camp season is hard on growing bodies, and most of what keeps kids healthy happens before they step on the field. A 5 to 10 minute warm up. Water before, during, and after. Shoes that fit and stay laced, so no Crocs. At least one rest day in the week.
Then pay attention to what comes after. Pain is not a normal part of playing sport, and a knock to the head is easy to shrug off when your kid is back up 30 seconds later. The 5 signs of concussion to watch for are persistent headaches, dizziness, mental confusion and trouble concentrating, nausea, and sensitivity to light or sound. If any of those show up, get your child checked.
