💡💡💡Are you familiar with “PDA” Pathological Demand Avoidance ? It’s the avoidance of everyday demands, anxiety brings about an inability to move forward with tasks that can often be misinterpreted as opposition and can be extremely frustrating to parents as the strategies used to avoid can be off putting . Below I’ve copied some information and some parenting suggestions.

Happy New Years everyone .. as we move into what most consider a fresh start , Consider this ;

Role Modelling the behaviour you want to see is the MOST EFFECTIVE way to support change in your children’s behaviour. Children naturally emulate their parents .
So you go first . Not them .

They also don’t “have” to eat at the table either . Try to make this season fun for everyone if you can.
Accommodations are OK and do not mean you have failed as a parent.
My little ADHD’r is going to sit at the table with a book or an iPad and that’s ok. It’s not worth the fight …
Be gentle with yourself . It’s supposed to be fun.
