October 1 is National Seniors Day — a day to recognize and celebrate the contributions, experiences and wisdom of older adults across Canada.

At Maple Villa, we have the privilege of getting to know the incredible individuals who call our home their home. Each resident has a unique story, a lifetime of experiences and memories, and a special place in the lives of family and friends.

Today, we celebrate our residents and all the seniors who have helped shape our families, our communities and the world around us.

A great activity can encourage conversation, stimulate memories, support movement, spark creativity or simply give residents something to look forward to.

That's why variety matters.

At Maple Villa, our Life Enrichment programming is designed around the different interests, abilities and needs of our residents — from recreation and social activities to opportunities for creativity, exercise and meaningful engagement.

Sometimes it's a game of cards.

Sometimes it's music.

Sometimes it's a conversation over coffee.

And sometimes it's trying something completely new.

Together, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honour the children who never returned home, residential school Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities.

Wearing orange is a small but meaningful way to remember, reflect, listen, and continue learning about the truth and lasting impact of residential schools.

Today, and every day, we honour the importance of compassion, understanding, and reconciliation. 🧡
