PUREFUME!

I gave up wearing perfume (fragrances in general) 5 years ago and although it was hard at first, I don’t regret it.

The smell of someone else’s perfume can now immediately trigger a headache for me.

So what do I use instead? Homemade “pure-fume” made up of essential oils of course!

Some of my favourite pre-made blends are Whisper, Passion and Beautiful (if you have an opportunity to purchase this rollerball, DO IT. You won’t regret it!).

The fun thing is that you can blend your favourite oils to create a unique scent of your own!

OILS IN THE KITCHEN:

Hands up! 👋🏻 Who here has attempted to cook with oils and if you have, what did you make??

Last night I made turkey soup... so yummy!
I had leftover turkey from Christmas dinner in the freezer to use up and I’ve been itching to make this soup recipe.

I didn’t have fresh thyme which the recipe called for. In the past I have used too much of an essential oil when trying to substitute for an herb - which is a big mistake as you don’t want your meal overpowered by one herb/oil!

But Ange of Hol:Fit recently launched an ebook on cooking with essential oils and in it she mentions the “toothpick” method for flavouring your food - which is brilliant! Sometimes (correction - a lot of the time) a drop is too much. In this case, one swirl of thyme was enough for this soup. It gave it enough flavour without being overpowering.

So lesson learned! Less is more. Check out the images below for this yummy turkey soup recipe, a list of essential oils that can be used in the kitchen and methods to use to integrate them into your food and bevvies.

MY MENTAL LOAD HAS BEEN IN HOLIDAY OVERDRIVE

Anyone else feeling it?

Luckily I spent a vacation day on Friday running around trying to check off all of my lists and get ready for the holidays. The never ending lists of daycare teacher gifts, teacher gifts, co-worker gifts, materials for a school float to be made this weekend, stamps for Christmas cards, food for dinner, etc., can be stressful.

I am an anxious person by nature but this holiday chaos always kicks it into overdrive. So before I left the house I grabbed my Adaptiv calming blend - its my go-to for anxiety. 👊 It helps support your mind when you're feeling uneasy, anxious, fatigued, or indecisive and it smells AMAZING.
