June is recognized as Men's Mental Health Awareness Month

In Canada and many other countries, June is recognized as Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. It's a time to raise awareness about challenges that many men face, including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, relationship difficulties, loneliness, and su***de risk.

A few important points that are often highlighted:

Men are generally less likely to seek professional mental health support.
Men often report feeling pressure to be strong, self-reliant, or not show vulnerability.
Symptoms can sometimes present differently than expected—irritability, anger, withdrawal, risk-taking, overworking, or substance use can sometimes be signs of underlying distress.
Men account for a disproportionately high number of su***de deaths in Canada.
