Adults get assessed too — and it changes things.

Many adults reach their 30s and 40s carrying explanations like "lazy," "scattered," or "not living up to their potential" — only to discover through assessment that ADHD, a learning disability, or another difference was shaping their experience all along. Understanding why something has been hard doesn't erase the past. But it does change how you move forward.

Tag someone who has wondered if an assessment might finally give them answers.

When your child is dysregulated, your calm is the intervention.

You cannot reason, problem-solve, or teach a child whose nervous system is flooded. Their thinking brain is offline. What they can access is your nervous system. Co-regulation works because children borrow stability from regulated adults nearby. Your presence, your tone, and your breathing communicate safety when words simply don't land.

You don't have to have a faith background to be welcome at Eckert Centre.

Faith-integrated care is one option among many — not a requirement, not the default. Our team supports people across a wide spectrum of beliefs, spiritual questions, and life experiences. What matters most is that you feel safe, understood, and supported in a way that actually fits who you are.

Drop a comment if it matters to you that a clinic offers this kind of flexibility.

Myth: Getting support means something is seriously wrong with your child.

Truth: Seeking support means you're paying attention. Every child has areas where they need more help, and neurodiverse kids often need support that simply isn't built into standard school or home environments. Asking for help isn't an admission of failure. It's one of the most informed things a parent can do for their child's long-term wellbeing.

Waiting to see if they grow out of it is a plan. Just not always a good one.

Some challenges do resolve with time. Others quietly compound — affecting confidence, friendships, and how a child understands themselves — while everyone waits. An assessment doesn't lock anything in. It tells you what you're actually dealing with so you can make an informed choice about what to do next.

Save this if you've been on the fence about getting an assessment.

EXOMIND® rTMS is also being used to support focus and follow-through in ADHD.

For people with ADHD who struggle with consistency, motivation, and task initiation even when they know what they need to do, EXOMIND® rTMS targets the prefrontal cortex — the area of the brain most involved in those exact functions. It's not about willpower. It's about giving the brain the support it needs to do what you're already trying to do.

Raising a neurodiverse child changes your own nervous system too.

Chronic vigilance, bracing for escalation, and hyperawareness of your child's state — over time, this leaves parents in a near-constant low-level stress response. You may not even notice it anymore because it's become your baseline. Your nervous system deserves attention too. Not as a luxury, but as a requirement for sustainable parenting.

Christian counselling at Eckert Centre isn't about being told what to believe.

It's about having a therapist who understands the language of faith, respects your values, and can work within that framework when it's meaningful to you. It's gentle, collaborative, and always led by what feels right for you.

Your spiritual life is an asset in the healing process, not a complication. Follow for more on how faith and mental health care can work together.

ExoMind® rTMS may help when these are part of the picture.

Persistent low mood. Difficulty concentrating. Low motivation that doesn't lift no matter what you try. Brain fog. Burnout that rest doesn't seem to touch. These aren't personal failures, but they can reflect patterns of activity in the brain that benefit from targeted, gentle stimulation. ExoMind TMS supports the brain's capacity to shift those patterns over time.

One of the most common things we hear from parents after an assessment: "I wish we'd done this sooner."

Not because something was seriously wrong. But because having a clear picture of how their child thinks, learns, and processes the world changed how the whole family understood them. It replaced guesswork with direction. And it gave their child language for things they'd been struggling to explain.
