🌿 "And so the adventure begins." — Unknown ☀️

The arrival of summer brings a natural shift in rhythm—a collective exhale, warmer days, and a clean slate for new experiences. But from a psychological perspective, an "adventure" doesn't have to mean booking a massive trip or packing every weekend with high-energy plans.

True adventure can simply be the willingness to step out of your routine and explore new ways of taking care of your mind, body, and spirit.

Here is how you can bring a little psychological intention into your summer adventures this year:

Prioritize "Green Therapy": Psychology consistently shows that spending time in nature reduces cortisol levels and restores depleted attention span. Whether it’s a hike in the foothills or sitting under a tree at a local park, let nature do some of the heavy lifting for your mental health.

Redefine "Fun": As adults, we often forget how to play simply for the sake of playing. Give yourself permission to do something purely because it brings you joy, without worrying about productivity or the end result.

Practice Micro-Self-Care: Summer can sometimes feel pressure-filled to "make the most of every sunny minute." Remember that a 10-minute quiet coffee on the deck or a slow evening walk is just as valuable as a full weekend getaway.

Whatever your version of adventure looks like over the next few months—even if it's an adventure in setting better boundaries to protect your peace—we hope it brings you exactly what you need. 🌲✨

If you are looking for support in navigating life's transitions or want to start a new therapeutic journey this season, our team is here to guide you through the woods.

BIG NEWS! 🎉 Michelle is now trained in SPACE therapy (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)!

This incredible approach helps children overcome anxiety, OCD, and related problems, but here’s the key difference: the parents or caregivers are the ones who attend the sessions.

SPACE empowers you with the skills to effectively support your child and reduce their anxiety symptoms. The focus is on making helpful changes at home—not pushing the child into therapy before they're ready.

Ready to learn how this parent-based method can bring peace back to your home?

Today, May 5th, is Red Dress Day. It is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S).

At Through the Woods Psychology, we recognize the profound and ongoing impact of this systemic injustice on Indigenous communities. We stand in solidarity to honor the lives lost, support the families left behind, and emphasize the importance of collective healing and advocacy.

We encourage everyone to take time today to listen, learn, and reflect on how we can all contribute to a safer and more just future.
