DEAM (Disability Employment Awareness Month) is back!

The DEAM IDEA Conference returns for its fifth year, three days of practical hiring strategy, sector insight, and real connection, hosted by the Alberta Employment First Network.

October 6 to 8 at NAIT, Edmonton. Keynotes from Marco Pasqua and Erin Davis, plus a job fair linking employers with skilled talent.

What do the stripes mean?

Designed by Ann Magill in 2019 and updated in 2021, the Disability Pride Flag was made visually safe for people with visually triggered disabilities.

What each element represents, as described by the CASE - Canadian Association for Supported Employment

Black background, for mourning the victims of ableist violence and abuse.
The diagonal band, cutting across the walls and barriers that separate disabled people from society.
Red, for physical disabilities.
Gold, for neurodivergence.
White, for invisible and undiagnosed disabilities.
Blue, for psychiatric disabilities.
Green, for sensory disabilities.

Together, the colours show that disability spans every border.
