Mental-health struggles aren’t character flaws. They’re experiences that deserve understanding and support.

Someone may still work, care for their family, make plans, laugh and show up while struggling internally.

You don’t need to fully understand another person’s experience to treat them with compassion.

Instead of assuming, listen.
Instead of judging, ask.
Instead of dismissing, support.

Counselling support is available.

Behind every title, there's a story that doesn't always get told.

🎙️ Episode 1 of Behind Every Title is about to drop.

In our first episode, Tiffany Petite shares the moment her body forced her to stop, and how that experience changed the way she thought about leadership, success, and the life she was building.

A candid conversation about the pressures behind success, the realities of leadership, and the moments that challenge us to rethink what really matters.

Coming soon to YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast platforms.

Why do we often wait until everything feels overwhelming before taking our mental health seriously?

Mental health care can also be maintenance:

Checking in with yourself.
Making time for rest.
Staying connected.
Setting boundaries.
Noticing when something feels different.
Asking for support before everything becomes too much.

You don’t need to be in crisis for your mental health to deserve attention.

Counselling support is available.

You can go to work, care for your family, make plans, laugh with friends and continue showing up and still be struggling internally. Mental illness doesn’t always look like visible sadness, isolation or being unable to function.

That’s why assumptions such as “They seem fine” can prevent meaningful conversations.
Check in. Listen without judgment. Remember that you may not know the full story.
Individual Counselling and mental-health support are available.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Today, we honour Residential School Survivors, their families and communities. We remember the children who never returned home, and we recognize the lasting and intergenerational impacts of Canada’s Residential School system.

Reconciliation requires more than remembrance on one day. It asks us to listen to Indigenous voices, continue learning and carry that understanding into meaningful action.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

Emotional safety is the feeling that you can be honest without being mocked, dismissed, punished or made to feel ashamed.

It can look like being listened to, having your boundaries respected, asking for help and knowing that disagreement won’t automatically threaten the relationship.

No relationship is perfect. Emotional safety grows through consistency, respect, accountability and repair.

Which part of emotional safety matters most to you?

This one feels different 💜

Six years ago, Virtuous Circle Counselling started with me working from a walk-in closet during the pandemic.

There was no outside investment. No big launch. Just an idea about how mental-health care could feel more human, and how we could make it easier for people to find the right support.

Today, VCC has been named one of The Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies for the third consecutive year.

2024 — #33
2025 — #60
2026 — #211

But those numbers aren’t really what I’m proudest of. The part I’m proudest of is what’s in the middle: the people, the purpose, and the possibilities.

A practice that started in a walk-in closet has grown into a team of more than 30 clinicians. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of supporting more than 17,000 Albertans.

More people reaching out for support. More conversations happening. More opportunities to create meaningful change.

We bootstrapped it. We learned as we went. We got things wrong. We kept going.

Three years. One pretty incredible journey.

Same purpose. Bigger possibilities.

The cost of counselling can prevent people from seeking support—even when they know they could benefit from it.

Our reduced-fee student counselling program helps make professional mental-health support more accessible:

Couples counselling: $75hour

Sessions are provided by carefully selected graduate-level practicum therapists under the supervision of experienced professionals.

If cost has been standing between you and counselling, this may be an option worth exploring.
