Here’s the *working* back cover text to my next book. I’m expecting this to take a couple years to write as a lot of work is going into this. And I REALLY want to get it right. Suicidal ideation—or being a loved one of those struggling with it—is such a sensitive issue. 1 in 2 will struggle with these thoughts for at least 2 weeks in their life—so it needs to be talked about.

Here is my latest passion project. A book about suicidal ideation and the journey of finding meaning. It’s still very much in the early stages and I don’t want to rush it at all. One aspect of the book is going to include quotes from clients—you! I want others to understand the essence of the struggle to live. Let me explain the bar chart. When we look at the number of years an addict is sober, what’s the threshold point this will reliably be maintained?

It takes a year before less than half relapse. And by 3 years, if you’re still sober, you’ll probably stay that way.

This doesn’t mean “one day at a time” and other recovery tools don’t apply after 3 years. It’s that the person has adopted these strategies into a new way of living.

Grieving is such a painful process. There’s a finality to it. And we catch ourselves wishing for anything but the present moment.

It’s normal to hurt for things lost. Grief comes in many ways, and doesn’t have a set time table for processing. Be kind and gentle with yourself when these feelings come.
