Supporting Equality, Celebrating Pride

Throughout June, communities across Canada are celebrating Pride Season 2026.

It’s a time to honour the history, resilience, and contributions of 2SLGBTQI+ people while continuing the work of building a more inclusive society for everyone.

Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State Rechie Valdez, in her statement to mark the season, said Pride is both a celebration and a reminder of the importance of creating communities where everyone can live safely and authentically.

“Pride Season is more than just a celebration – it is a time to reaffirm Canada’s commitment to equality, safety, and inclusion,” she said.

This Pride Season, we join Canadians from coast to coast in celebrating the strength, diversity, and vibrancy of 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

Juneteenth: A Day to Learn, Reflect, and Celebrate

Observed annually on June 19, Juneteenth is a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates Black history, culture, and resilience.

While not an official public holiday in Canada, communities across the country continue to recognize the day through educational events, cultural celebrations, and gatherings that honour Black history and heritage

The occasion also offers an opportunity to reflect on Canada’s own history and the contributions of Black communities that continue to shape the country today.

Celebrating Those We Call Dad - The people we call “dad” don’t all share the same story.

Some are fathers by birth, others through adoption, marriage, fostering, mentorship, or simply by consistently showing up when it matters most.
