So you're done post-secondary - what's next? 🤔

With a new wave of university graduates, having just finished classes and preparing to receive their diplomas, people often imagine pure excitement and celebration waiting on the other side. And yes, earning a degree is a huge accomplishment. It deserves to be celebrated.

But for many graduates, this season also brings uncertainty, anxiety, and a quiet sense of loss.

Along with the pride can come questions like:

Who am I without school?
What happens if I don’t find a job right away?
Am I even sure that my degree is what is in line with my interests anymore?
Why does everyone else seem more “together” than me?

Keep showing up.
Keep building small routines.
Keep applying.
Keep reaching out.
Keep believing there is still purpose in this in-between season.

Because there is.

6 years ago at the height of the pandemic, graduates had drive thru convocations and walked the stage solo while their loved ones honked from their cars, and our Clinical Founder, Tasha, got creative to celebrate the class of 2020.

She threw on a cap and gown over her original 90’s prom dress and recited a poem she wrote to the class of 2020 in celebration and support of a time that felt like it was taken away from them. While the way we connect with our graduates today has returned to normal, so much of Tasha’s poem to graduates still resonates today for the class of 2026.

As you celebrate this huge milestone, soak in every moment and celebrate every bit of this experience!

congratulations to the class of 2026! 🎉

Sorry parents, but with the upcoming summer, we need to think about tech and how it is going to be handled. This may result in conflict, but I promise you, it’s conflict worth having. Heading into a summer with some tech guidelines is going to create a space for better connection, better sleep hygiene, better overall mental health, better sun tans, better memories of in-real-life connections, better eating habits, better emotional regulation… and a healthier brain, ready for school in the fall. Curious about how to start this conversation, put your questions in the comments and I will happily offer some wisdom. XX Tasha

NOOOOO… think of all the other things you could be doing to build a life?

Don’t let this be you. Put down your phone now.

My book ‘STOLEN FOCUS: Why you can’t pay attention’ might help. Have you read it?

Neurodivergent as a term has never belonged to the field of medicine, psychiatry, or neuroscience. It's a term for political advocacy and social identity & power analysis.

The ND paradigm developed out of q***r theory and disability studies. ND/NT are terms for how supremacist society ranks our social standing according to how our bodies exist.

If a person does not fit into the box of neuronormativity at any time for any reason, they are divergent. Neurodivergence includes differences in biological structure as well as differences in experience, behavior, and brain-body function, including temporary disabilities.

Any disability caused by neuro-cognitive difference of any type is neurodivergence.

Neurodivergent means “anyone whose neuro-cognitive function diverges from dominant cultural norms." That is the definition Kassiane Asasumasu used when she coined the word in the early 2000s, and it is still the working definition the ND paradigm uses. Any less inclusive definition is not part of the ND paradigm, but part of the phenomenon of psychiatry co-opting ND language and using it in a way it was never intended.
🦎I'm hosting a set of workshops on Sensory Trauma June 4 & 5 at 4pm EST. We’ll be learning about what sensory trauma is, how it works, how to prevent sensory trauma, and how to support recovery. This is for both ND people and professionals. My classes are a unique space where we get to interact as peers without hierarchy. Recordings are shared the next day.

✏️ My year long-course, 50 Vagus Exercises in a Year, is still open for enrollment. We're exploring natural vagus nerve stimulation while honoring individual pacing and considering neurodivergent differences. The exercises are taught through short videos, with a monthly Q&A session on zoom, and several more ways to learn with me. We started last month and there’s currently 5 short videos and 1 Q+A session if you want to catch up with us.

Not sure about counselling? That’s okay. 💛

Whether you feel nervous, unsure, or even resistant—your feelings make sense. Counselling isn’t about having the “right” words or being ready right away. It’s about showing up as you are, at your own pace.

For kids, teens, and parents—this post breaks down what counselling can really look like (hint: it might be a lot more relaxed and supportive than you think).

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Sometimes the bravest step is just showing up once.
