🩸✨ Breast milk is made from blood — not directly from what you eat.

Your body pulls from your bloodstream to create milk that’s perfectly designed for your baby.

Most newborn gas is normal, and diet usually only matters if there’s a true protein allergy or intolerance.

ALL humans have gas 😉 Babies fuss and cry because it's a new sensation, and occasionally it is actually very uncomfortable.

But for common newborn gas, you don't need to alter your diet. Breast milk is made from your blood. So while some proteins of what you eat get into your bloodstream and thus your milk, your baby isn't digesting broccoli and beans or spices the same way you are.

Occasionally, some babies do have true protein allergies or sensitivities but this is more the exception rather than the rule.

There’s some pretty cool names in here!

These names were given to exactly 5 boys each in the United States in 2024 (the latest data we have until May!) The boy name list wasn't as well stacked with interesting names as the girl name list was, but I pulled the ones that I thought people would be the most endeared, surprised, or confused by. I imagine there'll be a mix of emotions reading through them, with that said there are some really cool hidden gems mixed in!

Too boring, don’t want to read?
The American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology shared the latest study shows that with doula support there were:

- 15-34% higher success rate for VBACs
- 20% higher chance of exclusively breastfeeding
- fewer preterm births (3-4 less out of every 100)

Hooray for doulas!

The United States suffers from an increasing rate of severe maternal morbidity, paired with a wide disparity in maternal health by race. Doulas are posited to be a useful resource to increase positive outcomes and to decrease this disparity.

2 Visit any midwifery practice in your area to fill out and send a physical postcard to your MLA. The postcard message is simple: “My Family. My Birth. My Midwife.” We want every MLA in Alberta to be hearing how crucial midwifery care is as negotiations continue to support growth and sustainability in Alberta - specifically, the need for increased privileges and adequate hospital-based supports.

Fascinating! Overnight doula support is one of my favourite services to offer. So you can be well rested and apparently I will shoulder the lower cognitive functioning 😂
