As acupuncturists, one of the most common questions we get from new patients is: Does acupuncture hurt? The short answer is no — acupuncture should not be painful.

That said, some areas of the body can be a little more sensitive, such as around the wrists or feet, but the goal is never to cause pain. A normal sensation patients may experience is a tingling, heavy, dull, or achy feeling, which we call De Qi. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is considered the arrival or activation of Qi in that area and is a normal response to treatment.

If a patient feels sharp or ongoing pain, it usually means the needle may need to be repositioned. Overall, acupuncture is meant to be a relaxing experience. When the body is calm and relaxed, it is often more receptive to treatment.

Enter our Spring giveaway! One lucky winner will receive a FULL YEAR of Massages and/or Acupuncture sessions at Zen Acupuncture & Wellness. 12 sessions at the value of over $1200! Entering is simple, be a client who refers a friend for their first treatment here at Zen. Never been here before? That’s okay! Come see us and then send in your friend! 🤗 No reposting or commenting required- but it may help your friends earn you more entries. Upon arriving for your first appointment, just tell us who sent you in, and you will both be entered for the draw.

Rules:
-The 60 minute treatments included may be either an acupuncture or massage booking.
-There is no limit on contest entries.
-Any Acupuncture or massage booking is viable for an entry when that booking is a new client.
-Contest closes June 28th.
-Winner will be announced July 1st.
-Prize package begins July 1st.
-Should you wish to gift this prize package to someone else; you may, but it is transferable once and in full. This transfer must be completed by July 10th, and they must be another client of Zen Acupuncture & Wellness.
-Only one treatment from the prize package may be used per month, if you forget to use one of the monthly treatments within the month that session will be expired and no longer valid. Any additional treatments or add-ons will be at regular cost.
